I live in a very diverse area. People from all walks of life. Middle classed, working classed, and many who have fallen on hard times and have turned to drink and drugs to help make their way through life.
I was walking to the post office. As I was walking, a young lady who's life hasn't been good to her, said "Nice Skirt!" I smiled at her. She didn't see this and said louder "Nice skirt!". I thanked her and said it came from a charity shop. The skirt was a short light and dark tan plaid pattern. It was the first time I'd worn it.
We spoke for a little while, and then she said "I hope you don't mind, but are you a man?" I told her that I was, and that crossdressing is something I do to keep my head in a good place. She said that I looked great and that I have great taste in clothes, and that my outfit was amazing (Orange jumper, black opaque tights, knee length boots and a leather jacket). Again I thanked her. We talked about her a little. A relationship breakdown caused her to end up on the streets. Her parents didn't want her. She now has a place in the hostel up the road, so she has somewhere to live, get fed, and shower etc. She fell into addiction of drink and drugs, but is now clean of drugs thanks to the hostel. She's OK! She, like me, loves living where we live because of it's diverse nature. We talked of this diversity, and she said that I was part of this diversity.I was the only crossdresser that she has ever met. She said that the large muslim community around us (there is a mosque at the end of my street) has been a great help, and that they support the hostel with donations of food and bags of clothing. We chatted for maybe 20 minutes.
I walked on to the post office, and popped into the adjoining shop for some milk. I then bought a bag full of snacks, chocolate, drinks (soft) and biscuits. As I returned home, I gave this bag to this young lady. She asked my name. I gave her both of mine, and she replied "Kind Cerys. That's what I'm going to call you". I'm not going to lie, this touched me. It made me well up.
It's interactions like this that make life special. This young person with next to nothing, made me feel amazing. Two weeks ago, I lost my job. If it wasn't for my wife having a great job, I could easily find myself in a similar position. Being unemployed is seriously screwing me up, and Cerys is keeping me sane. This young lady boosted me. She'll never fully know how much her "Nice skirt" and the following conversation means to me. I'll see her around. I pass the hostel every day. I hope to chat again soon.

It doesn't hurt to be kind to other people regardless of circumstances.
It is funny how different things embrace us. Alway be kind, never know where it will lead.
Happy it made you feel good.

Cerys -
What a wonderful experience for you. Shows you never know where and when a bit of light will enter your life. If only others would be as open as you were the world would be a better place. I hope you get to see that young lady again.
Good luck on the job front,
XOXO
