What is your day like when you launder your pantyhose?  For me, it's hand-washing in the bathroom sink.  Then hung on the shower rod.  Today while in the basement lifting panties out of the washing machine, I heard what I thought was someone kicking in the back door. What the heck?  Went to investigate, but nobody there!  So I see it's the shower curtain on the bathroom floor, from too much weight of wet pantyhose & tights.

Stocking and even panties I can wash out while taking a shower, but pantyhose are too much of a complication when one is diligently trying to wash out flaked skin or perspiration.

@danikiss22 We use our middle floor bathroom for drying clothes - it's useful having 3 bathrooms. We had the same thing happen with a shower rail too so have stands which live in the bath. to put laundry on.

We machine wash everything - hosiery goes in the machine in bags to kept it safe.

@annaredhead Yes, the laundry bags work great.

@danikiss22 I don't understand. A properly installed shower curtain rod won't fall down under the little weight of pantyhose even if they were sopping wet.

Washing bags are your friend for delicates, including pantyhose.

@harriette I know! The three shower curtains I own, this one looks the best and uncrews to expand.  I think my hand was wet as I forced the rod inward a little bit and it made the wall slippery..  I had gauged its stability by how difficult it was to nudge but still it wasn't enough.

@danikiss22 Oh. Are you talking about the spring loaded rods with rubbery end caps? Those are held up with friction.

They still have to hold up a shower curtain. Maybe two.

@harriette yup. I think maybe I slid the thing so my pantyhose would be sure not to drip on the floor, and probably it ended up wasn't binding enough against the wall.

@danikiss22 I think it’s so funny that you thought someone was at the door.  I can imagine me doing the same thing.  I’m always a little paranoid that someone will discover all my things.

I don't bother washing them, I wear once or twice max, and then bin them, because I hate wearing them when they get snag lines (or whatever they're called) in them. Suffice to say I don't wear expensive tights.  lol

TIP....When putting on your tights/stockings, do you ever push your hand into them, and drat!!! snag them with a jaggy fingernail, ruining them?

SOLUTION....Buy a pair of thin woollen gloves, put them on, put on tights/stockings, remove gloves. Perfect and snag free every time.  🙂

@sienna106 Apparently, you haven't met a pair of Sheertex pantyhose. 😉

I went to a dollar store and picked up a pair of cotton gloves. I have sinced learned how to put on my stockings without snag issues, too.

Hi Dani,

Years ago I picked up a wooden drying rack.  It collapses so you can store it away when not in use.

I also just use the net lingerie bags, put in my pantyhose or tights depending on the season, maybe put bras in a separate bag, and throw it into the washing machine. Everything is washed on cold anyway.

I have 2 metal drying racks upstairs, one we had for a long time, and one that I replaced from when my daughter went to college. Not only do I use it for hosery and bras, but also for any tops, skirts, or dresses that require "line dry."
