Hey everyone ... but most particularly all of you UK girls!

I have a question for you.

The US has the Keystone Conference and Diva Las Vegas (both of which I plan on attending one day, with a trip to Las Vegas perhaps on the cards as early as October 2024). It also hosts other events throughout the year.

As someone who has dressed at home for many years but has still to step out into the big wide world as Ellie, I love the fact that at least the first two offer ‘Big Sister’ or ‘Helping Hand’ programmes designed to help the underconfident (by which I mean me) take their first faltering steps into the light – plus of course the opportunity to have professional makeovers and take part in communal events and excursions. They sound incredible. I need them in my life.

What I was wondering is … is there anything similar in the UK? Sparkle seems to be a rather different animal than either Keystone or Dina Las Vegas, and other than Pride events my online searches have failed to unearth anything other than scattered club nights and the like.

I know that there are a few dressing services that offer makeovers followed by accompanied visits (I probably can’t mention them by name here), but the attractions that the US conferences hold for me are:

1). the communal element.
2). the opportunity to socialise and make friends in a safe environment.
3). the feeling I would get of being part of a sisterhood.
4). the security that would follow from having a Big Sister at hand to build my confidence.
5). the chance to be Ellie (in public) for an extended period. I think I would find out a lot about her in a very short time!

Sooooooo … are there any events like this in the UK that I should be aware of? *sits back and waits for information about a whole series of wonderful things while simultaneously anticipating a sense of crushing disappointment*

Hugs

I know it's not in the UK, but Esprit is back as well. Taking place in the lovely Pacific Northwest, it also offers a Big Sister program. Hope to check it out one day, since I am in the same boat as you, Ellie. The big public unveiling.

I think it is crushing disappointment Ellie. I have often looked but there is nothing on the scale, or comes close to Keystone here on our 'ickle island.

Thanks Lillith

I'm thinking that I might be holidaying in the US for the next few years 🙂

Hey Becca

Hmmm ... yes, it's conventions and the like that I'm after but it's beginning to seem there's nothing like that on offer on this side of the Pond. Also a bit of a dearth of local girls for me to connect with. I was hopeful that a search of CDH members would help, but no luck so far.

Pink Punters is definitely still going, and is on my bucket list once I've got my confidence levels up!

Thank you so much for raising this Ellie. I have heard and taken part in vague discussions along these lines. Of course if there is nothing, and I would be surprised if that were the case, then perhaps we need to resort to self help and organise ourselves, starting small and only doing things were are comfortable with.

Hi Ellie,

have a look for ‘Leeds First Friday’ (LFF). Been several times and this event is getting bigger all the time. A social event held in the bars in Brigate in Leeds on the first Friday of the month. If you are on f/book, there is a group and makeovers can be arranged in your hotel room or the room of the MUA.
Been on my own several times and met up with girls, who I have still remained friends with. So have a look at the web and f/book page.

Thanks Fay

I had heard of LFF but I had no idea about the Facebook group or the fact that makeovers are a possibility. It's a four hour drive from where I am, but an overnight stay would make it manageable.

This is very useful information for future Ellie to be aware of!

I think Sparkle is still going. I've never been to a Sparkle event, but they were very well attended.l

Hey Cerys

Sparkle is definitely still going (although the Sparkle Ball has been cancelled due to lack of funds). It looks like a wonderful, wonderful thing!

Hey Fay, I've heard about LFF even in the States and it always sounded like a very good time.  Thanks, Marg

Leeds First Friday is definitely on my bucket list now. I'm already in contact with some other girls who attend.

Pink Punters in Milton Keynes is also a possibility for the future!

In both cases though I would only consider going as part of a group of friends. For me, that social aspect is the main attraction of venues like these. I'm all about shared experience and the fun 🙂

I haven't been to one but I know there are Gender Shake events in the UK. Based on some pictures I have seen, they are well attended and look like a lot of fun. Take a look here:

There's also a club in Milton Keynes called Pink Punters that is LGBT and is well attended by Crossdressers and Transwomen.

Hope you find a place to get out and have some fun!!

Hi Ellie
I can personally vouch for Pink Punters in Milton Keynes it is very friendly, and supportive of girls like us it's totally LGBTQ friendly and safe I know because its close to where I live.

I checked out LFF on Google. Cannot enter site without a social media passcode. I don't do ANY Facebook Discord etc etc so I can't look n see. It annoys me that these places have a website but don't give you the information in it. Not even a contact us section.  All good I guess I just won't attend bit of a shame as that's exactly what I'm looking for lol
