Hi Girls,

I'm going to Esprit Gala next year in Port Angeles Wa. I will be driving there from my city in Canada and would love to leave Canada dressed as Trish. I asked one of my girl friends here and she said sure you can, you just have to let them know that you're going to a CD convention and there won't be an issue.

So to be better off safe than sorry I'm wondering if any of you ladies have done this. either from Canada to the US or the US to Canada. I'd feel a lot better if there's more than one girl friend saying "yeah I did it with out a problem". If any of you have done this I'd sure like to hear about your experience. Thanks for any info you can send my way.

Trish.

@trish1980 Hi Trish, Have fun in P-A and send photos.  As to crossing the border, who would object to anyone who looks as FABULOUS as you do! I want to try to make a Cornbury Society get together one of these days if they will have an old Yank cougar!

Hi Paulette,   You are too kind girlfriend but I love your comment 🥰. That would be so nice meeting you at a Cornbury Society dinner party. I have this year’s schedule do you want me to send it to you? I think you’ll fit in just fine with all the girls. You’re just that nice a person ❤️. Trish

@trish1980 What a fun read while I’m waiting at the Coupville to Port Townsend ferry terminal on my way to Esprit!

Some of the Cornbury gurls have crossed the border dressed but I forget which ones.  I haven’t, but it’s probably no harder than in boy mode with a truck full of women’s clothing and large shoes 🤭

I say upfront at the border I’m going to a crossdresser convention in Port Angeles and he asks if I’m a UBC professor… “no, I’m an attendee”, “no I’m not selling anything…” so I think either way you can be in for an interesting exchange.  I heard they once asked a gurl to lift her wig to compare to the passport photo.  Reasonable I suppose (and a reason to look into alternative photo ID!).

The ferries here… see you soon!

you have fill me in when you’re back.because I’m a total newbie going to Esprit. I’m sure it is totally different than Diva Las Vegas.

@trish1980 Hi again girlfriend,

You do know that the easiest way for you to get to Esprit next year is to come see me in Victoria, and then we both take the Coho, the Blackball ferry, from here to Port Angeles.  Much easier and faster than going down through Blaine Washington and several different routes up to Port Angeles. That takes about 5 hours whereas the coho from here is only 90 minutes!  Plus, you go through US customs right here on the ferry dock before you board the ferry.

Hugs,

Lauren

Hi Lauren, no I didn’t, I talked to Lea and Dara and they said the quick way was taking the ferry at Coupville to Port Townsend??? Have you heard of that??

@trish1980 Hi again Trish, I'm looking at google maps right now. There is two ferry crossings if you go to Port Angeles from Vancouver via Victoria.  BC Ferries and the Coho. Total distance traveled is 154 km, time because of the two ferries is 5 hours.

Going south from Vancouver via the border crossing at Blaine and taking the ferry from Coupville to Port Townsend. Time is 4 hours 35 minutes but the driving distance traveled is almost doubled at 282 km.

I personally hate going through the border at Blaine as it is quite slow and always lineups. Taking the Coho from here to Port Angeles is so easy, 90 minute crossing, you make a reservation beforehand, and the customs check is done on the dock prior to boarding. For me, there really is only one option seeing as I live in Victoria, LOL

Guess it all depends where everyone is coming from and if people want to see a bit of Victoria along the way or head through the states.

I'm going to assume those who are traveling longer distances will probably fly to Seattle and rent a car.

We have a year to think about it 🙂  Have a good night girlfriend,

Lauren 🙂

Well that’s why I sent that info to you because you’ll be my guide. 😋 It does sound like Victoria is the way to go for sure. Geez, I’m getting excited already and it’s a year away. Have you been to Esprit before?

@trish1980 Interestingly and oddly, yes, but not as an attendee.  My son and I were traveling back from Portland Oregon, on our way back to Victoria.  The Coho ferry dock is almost next to The Red Lion, where Esprit is held, and we usually stop and get lunch while waiting for the ferry. We walked in and were seated and were looking at the menu. There were a number of tables with groups of women and I really didn't notice anything until I was over hearing them talk with each other - mostly all in male voices. From what I was able to tell, they were mostly dressed in casual attire and having a great time.

It was then that I recalled seeing Esprit mentioned as coming up. We were seated across the room from their tables and my son didn't seem to notice, so we ate our lunch and left for our ferry.

One thing this makes me always think about is our voices. I know that I am very fortunate being able to speak in a feminine voice.  It has allowed me to easily pass and work as a woman at my workplace. I don't even think about it anymore, it has become my natural voice, which they tell me is "very sweet and gentle."

Hugs,

Lauren

@trish1980 I haven’t gone to Canada dressed, yet. For what it’s worth I have gone into Mexico by Chartered bus with a group tour from ElPasso Texas.
Have also flown into Panamá from New Orleans. Dressed going in and returning on both trips. No problems either way. Facial recognition software easily sees thru makeup and hair to match you to your passport.

@trish1980 just happens that I’m flying to Seatle next month for 11days. Not crossing the border but plan to see their 3 National Parks all while being dressed.

Hey girlfriend, I would love to go with you next year!  I have to say that I easily solved the problem, as I will be traveling with a new passport that say's I'm the "real thing" and has a new picture of yours truly, en femme forever!

hugs,

Hi Lauren, that would be totally awesome I would love that. I'm going down for 5 days starting on the Wednesday. My wife thought a week was a little much but she's ok with 5 days. Do you want to be roomies? You can make me jealous right away by showing me your passport. That is so cool. It's going to be a long wait but from one of my Kamloops girl friends helps set it up each year and she says it's an amazing conference. She is also Transgendered fully, her name is Dara Vinc maybe you've met her. Take care girl and see you in a year.

Hi Trish,

I’ve crossed the USA/Canadian border cross dressed and didn’t have a problem either crossing into Quebec or returning back into the US.  With makeup and wig the photo didn’t match my ID but be open and honest answering the border guards questions.  You should be fine unless you have an outstanding warrant.

Have fun at the CD convention.

Hi Trish, I drove down to Esprit with Dara and Darlena on Sunday. I asked Dara about this issue and she advised me to dress up to cross the boarder as we were all going to a transgender event, so I did.

As it turned out we got a fairly butch woman US border guard who frowned a lot as they are trained to do, and despite the fact our car was packed to the tits with clothes and accoutrements, she let us through without any problems. The moral is, if you say you are going to a cross dressing event and you are cross dressed, everything lines up.

Hi Lea,

Thanks so much for the info. I’m feeling much more comfortable about this now. I hope you’re going next year too. It seems that a lot of my girl friends are over 6’ tall. You, Dara, Megan, Gwen and April who’s the same height as you 😊. I can’t wait till next year to meet you face to face. I’m wanting to get to another one of the Cornbury Society dinners  soon. Maybe we’ll get together at one of those? Enjoy Esprit and I’d love to hear how it went.

@trish1980 You can add Jana to our Vancouver club of girls who don’t need to wear hero’s but do. She’s also at Esprit.

Hi Lauren,

I can relate with you. It seems like most of my girl friends are all over 6’ tall. I’m 5’-8” so not much taller than you. Maybe that’s why we see things eye to eye 😆.

@trish1980 LOL, I was always "the short kid".  I still am the shortest member in the family. As a trans woman, I now look at this as being a gift, as I am only an inch taller than the average height for a Canadian woman. I see, and know, many cisgirls who are a lot taller than I am.

I used to be 5’-10 1/2” so I guess being on the back nine has it’s benefits as I’ve shrunk 2 1/2” to a more girly height in the past 4 years 😋 Lauren. So if I shrink another 2” we’ll be twins 😆.

@trish1980 I used to be 6’3” and gained a couple inches doing yoga for several years. I highly recommend it, pun intended of course! 😉
