I feel that I stand, walk and sit like a lady (I’m probably delusional), but for the life of me, I cannot dance like a woman.  Whenever I dance en femme (only at home) I always feel like that is exactly as I would dance as my other self.  Any pointers/help/suggestions that any of you super confident, public going ladies could help me with?  I am talking mainly about dancing to gentle rock or pop music, although I would love to ballroom dance as a woman too.

thanks and hugs Christine

@christineth Use your arms more. If you watch GG’s dance they express themselves with arm movements much more than men. Try in front of a mirror and see if you like what you see! 😜

@christineth Christine, I am the same.  The one feminine grace I just can’t seem to emulate is the way a woman dances.  I just don’t move with the grace and and fluidity of a woman.

@sweetdani4luv Danielle, there is comfort in a group! Maybe there is a dance school we can go to; if you hear of one let me know.  Hugs Christine

(I’m sure you are a better dancer than you think and you are only trying to make me feel better) 🙂

@christineth Dancing scares me!   I guess I'm still adapting to my femininity and still not completely at ease with it.  Maybe the time will come when I can relax, loosen up and let my inner girl guide my actions.  That will help with everything including dancing!

@lauren114 Lauren, I need a bit of Dutch courage to get on the dance floor, but once there it’s enjoyable…but I also like dancing at home by myself…that might help you build up your courage.  Hugs Christine

@christineth You know it's funny, most of my life while dancing in guy-mode I worried that I might look to feminine. Hilariously, now when I'm dolled up and dancing, I wonder if I look to manly. 😆

That said, the base of my dancing is just what it is, but when I'm dolled I tend to do more hip and shoulder swaying, and use my hands more - sort of dainty things out in front of me or above my head.

Possibly only in my head that looks more feminine, YMMV. 😉

In drab I always moved too much on the dance-floor, which I'm sure made me look really gawky with arms and legs everywhere.  I'm no better en femme, sadly!  Sure, I can let go and be in the moment the way that women do, but I seriously doubt it's anywhere near as attractive to look at 😳

@finallyfiona I am sure you are being overly critical and you look great on the dance floor.  Hugs Christine

Just look at women dancing and look for one that has your sort of build and start from there. If you have achieved a feminine walk then it can morph easily into a dance. gentle sways and steps. You are a gazelle not a gibbon...

@ab123 For me it's not so much the movement or body control, I just don't know the steps and the timing. I'm sure it just takes practice, but then I have no one to lead.

Don't feel bad. I can't dance in either mode.

I dearly wish I had learned to dance when I was young. I imagine myself in a pretty cocktail dress, hose and heels, gliding across the dance floor to a lovely waltz. Not gonna happen. Oh well.

Guess I'll just be a beautiful wall flower....lol.
