Has anyone attended Diva Las Vegas in the past? With everything seemingly moving in a good direction I am tempted/hoping to attend it this year (2021) during Halloween week.
If yes, what was it like, especially the first time you went? Did it fill up all of your days or were there gaps you filled in with other Las Vegas activities? Was it useful to have a car? Was staying at the convention hotel - this year the Flamingo - worth it or would somewhere else be just as good and reasonable convenient. (I have M-Life My Vegas points I could use for a comped room for a few nights, but Flamingo is Caesar's property.) Also, I'm a tad older - 64 - so is this a younger person's sort of thing or do us older folks have fun, too.
I've been to Las Vegas plenty of times before, so I pretty much know the ins and outs, although I'm sure the pandemic has changed many things. I usually rent a car, unless I am attending a business conference or something like that, but right now they seem to be pretty expensive due to the issues coming out of the pandemic. That said, I'm comfortable with cabs and Uber and public transit. But it seems like there are a number of events that might require a car, and having to depend on others for rides is a little concerning.
Have been digging through the Diva Las Vegas website and gotten a picture, but hope some of you can clue me in even better.
Thanks,
Millie
I have been to DLV and quite enjoyed myself. It can be as busy or laid back as you choose. There are typically a lot of activities you can choose to participate in or few as you choose. I drove to the event in my car but chose to take Uber to the DLV events as I am a rural girl and not familiar with Vegas driving. Much less the ability to park. Its is a fun event at all the folks there were wonderful. I am 66 so age is not an issue except there are lots of activities that run late into the night and I just couldn't keep up with lots of other girls who burn the nite oil. Most girls stayed at the hotel picked by the DLV site but I chose to stay near the Fremont street area. For me that was mostly a cost of hotel issue. Either is a good choice. Hope you can make it to DLV it is a great event.
Thank you for your insight. Like you, I'm not much of a night owl anymore - not that I ever was. So the late night things, well...Millie may be dull and in bed before they really get going.
The car sounds like a tossup. Fortunately I learned to drive in a big city and have been driving in them for most of my life, so driving in Las Vegas isn't particularly scary for me. It's also convenient that much of the area is laid out on a big grid, so if I can't make the left turn I usually can just make three rights and get headed in the direction I want.
It sounds like my biggest challenge will be dressing every day to be seen. I'm not going to fool anybody, but hope, with a little practice between now and then, that I can at least look presentable most of the time.
Thanks again for the feedback.
Millie
I figure that when I dress and go out I am not really fooling anyone that I am female. The great news is you just dress to blend and most people are too busy to notice and if they do they don't care. Being out enfemme is just a thrill so go for it and enjoy it. Las Vegas people have seen it all so its even less of a big deal there.
