One of the things that helped me accept my trans nature was getting out of the house and eventually doing things in the main stream. I can't count the number of times I was all ready to get out and froze with my nicely manicured hand on the doorknob of a hotel room. What finally got me out was meeting up with the ladies who participate in Diva Las Vegas each spring. Unlike Keystone or some of the others, this is a "Vacation not a Convention". There are no formal presentations, no central hotel, keynote speeches, big vendor exhibits and best of all, no fees. It will cost to join in, but only for the dinners or activities you want to be involved in. Golf? Mini-golf? Shows? Nice Dinners? Casual Dinners? Morning Coffee? Art Gallery? Wandering around like a tourist? Dancing the night away? Yeah, all those things happen. Most of all there are plenty of chances to meet other trans folks, sit down and talk. I've been going since 2001 and while my world has opened up, your mileage may vary. I can't guarantee you'll love it, but go to the web page and look at the photos and read the stories. If you want, there is a registration on-going now. That just means you start getting email updates and can sign up for the activities you want. And there are big sisters if you think that will help you. If I sound like I like it, I do. If you have questions, feel free to reach out to me. https://divalas.vegas/
I’m hoping to go, I registered, but pulling it of might be a challenge for a few reasons, despite being a local.
My question is, what do you suppose the average age demographic of attendees is?
Thanks for asking. The group tends to be mostly in their 40's, 50's and 60's, but with quite a few younger girls as well. Since it requires time off it seems to attract people who have been able to get vacation time during the event, so that tends to eliminate those who are just starting a career. I'm at the upper end of the age group now but started attending in my early 50's. While one might want to figure the group is "mature", a lot of them really cut loose during the week.
We try to schedule things throughout the day and night to make it easier for folks to attend for a short period of time and still get a chance to enjoy themselves in the company of like-minded T-folk. I hope you have a chance to make it even if it's only for one or two things scattered through the week.
