Hi all,
just wondering, do we have many FTM cd's in the site. i am curious if the challenges faced are similar or different than those of MTF.

I don't think so, especially since all the profile pictures you can choose are female. That's not a complaint. The challenges they face are similar to MTFs and different at the same time. Unfortunately they don't always feel welcome in a site like this. You know how we tend to run roughshod over the Dear Genetic Girls forum? Yeah, that.
The transgender support site I walked away from 10 years ago was a perfect example of what they encounter even on a support site. Every three months or so someone would make a post saying "There is no such thing as a woman crossdresser." And every three months or so the same three or four FTMs would reply "Hi. I'm a woman crossdresser. Nice to meet you."
Honestly I think CDH has the potential to be a fantastic site for FTMs of all identities. I think there are enough of us MTFs here who would make them feel welcome. It's just that some folks would need to be a little more sensitive first. Of course I'm just a member here. I only know what I see and think. I'm sure the ambassadors would know better how feasable that would be, and they may not really know either.
Hi Amber,
makes sense what you indicate. Guess i was partly asking because FTM CD is an option under gender on the profile page.
I have not seen any indication yet that we have any. Guess my problem is that i am too curious and always looking to learn new perspectives - well not really a problem just my nature.

I personally have never seen one here, not to say there might be, either way I would be as welcoming to a FtM, as I am the MtF population we have here. Though I suspect that the FtM folks would not be so comfortable here, through no fault of ours, as people usually want to be with folks like themselves. I can certainly relate to the struggles another MtF crossdresser has, being one myself, but can only imagine the struggles a FtM might be having.
It always seems to be more acceptable for women to dress very masculine, rather then men dressing quite feminine, but that's the double standard that's out there in society. So although a FtM might not have the same issues as I do, I'm sure there are others they have to deal with, I just don't know what they are, or relate to them as well.
I have been told that in the trans community there are roughly equal FtM, as MtF, but otherwise I have no information if this correct in the broader population.

Hi Amy. Given your welcoming attitude I thought this would be a great time to do a quick bit of educating. The fact that it's more acceptable for women to dress very masculine makes it easier for them to hide the fact that they crossdress but when the come out as crossdressers the reactions run the same gamut as we experience. Too often the conversation goes like this:
"I wear mens clothes."
"Sure, we all do sometimes. There's nothing wrong with that."
"No, I only wear mens clothes."
"Some women do."
"You don't understand. I'm a crossdresser."
{insert various reactions here}
At least we have the "luxury" of not having to sit there and convince people we're crossdressers. No matter what they think of us most people get the picture the first time.
Hi Kirsten
Never seen one on this site. Why would they bother. A woman (and I’m sure there are many) could buy from menswear departments and nobody bats an eye!
Everything in menswear can also be bought in womenswear, but much better styled, designed, fitted, embellished, colourful, choices of fabrics etc etc. Why would they shop in menswear????
The only thing my daughter has said when wearing something of mine is ‘its comfy🤣’ but you can even get ‘oversized’ sweaters, baggy ‘boyfriend’ jeans etc in womenswear.
There is absolutely no stigma, real or perceived, about women wearing men’s clothes either. So they will talk openly about it. They do not need a safe haven like CDH.
LIFE IS SO UNFAIR😭😭😭
Lets campaign for equality in our time! Only kidding, I know there are bigger issues out there.

Ooh, Bianca. I mean this with all due respect and friendship but your reply is exactly the reason that they don't tend to come to sites like this. They feel like people aren't willing to see their unique problems. And your entire fourth paragraph is exactly the opposite of the way things really are.
I know, it's eye opening isn't it? No harm no foul?
this actually quite interesting. although only from the small sample of replies seems to me that we really don't know one way or another. the likelihood is that just like with us the experiences will vary. but this tells me it is a subject, at least for me, would be important to research so we can all understand each other better.
thanks for the feedback y'all
kristen rebecca.
