My wife is working away for a few days, so dog walking is on me. She is the main dog walker. I often accompany her. Sometimes I walk him on my own.
It was a nice bright day here in Cardiff south Wales today. I dropped my wife at the station for her to catch her train to London. I get home, and our dog is grumpy as he's realised that my wife hasn't returned with me... He really sulks when she goes away.
As it's still bright and not yet chilly, I decide to walk the dog now rather than later. I contemplated getting changed, but didn't My outfit was smart, but the skirt, as it is all to often, was a little short. I put the dog in his harness. He's a big dog and a collar just doesn't do. I connect the lead, put on a denim jacket, and we head out. Sniff, sniff, sniff, pee, sniff, pee, sniff, sniff, pee, pee pee. (the dog not me!) It took us nearly ten minutes to get to the end of the road! We eventually make it to the park. It's a nice park and there are families with young kids. The park is in quite a middle class area. The dog decides he needs to do a No.2. Job done, I need to pick it up. I take the bag, but it on the hand, and then.... I have to bend down to pick up the doings.... Very short skirt, park full of families!!!! My knees don't bend like they used to, so I try a mix of bent knees and bending over. Picking up doggy doings in a busy park in a short skirt.... Thankfully, no one screamed or shouted. I think I managed to not upset anyone!
This reminded me of other times out walking the dog. Back in the winter, I was wearing a long skirt. For me, long is knee length or just below. This one was just below the knee. A straight corduroy skirt. Quite a narrow skirt, maybe some would call it a pencil skirt.... All good until it's time to pick up the doggy doings. I couldn't bend. The skirt was close fitting and with no stretch. To enable me to bend, I had to hoist the skirt up above my knees. This walk was along a busy main road, in the early evening. There I was, trying to hold my dog's lead, hoist my skirt up and trying to bend to pick up his doings.... A car passed HOOOOONNNKKKK! went the horn!!!!!!
Another time, Pouring with rain. Knee length boots, thick tights, mini skirt, jumper, and a long coat with a hood. It's a street walk, not a park. Just a quick walk around the block, maybe half a mile. It's about 10PM. One of the few occasions that I go out without my phone... It's very wet and quite windy. We get to the main road. There are mature trees along this road. One is close to a bus shelter. As we get to this tree, my dog smells something that he finds extra interesting. He drags me to the tree. Nose down he marches around the tree.... I'm now between the tree and the bus shelter. He's a very strong dog. he then goes around me. The lead is quite long. I'm now tied to the tree. My long goat is limiting movement. So squished between the tree and the bus shelter, in the poring rain on a Sunday night. The busses are by now on an hourly run if they are running at all. I'm stuck. I don't have my phone. I can't phone my wife. The dog doesn't seem to understand that I need him to go back the other way. He keeps trying to go the way he is facing. I'm trying to pull him to get him to reverse. He's a stubborn hound and is not playing. I thought of unclipping the lead, but he'd bugger off!!!!! I managed to get him close enough to me to allow me to grab the handle that is stitched to the top of his harness.... I managed to hold him, I took the gamble and unclipped the lead, and then slowly pull the lead back so it unwound itself. Finally free!!!!! This seemed to take forever. Lead attached to the harness and we finally make it home.. My wife says "That was a nice long walk in the rain. Did you enjoy it?". I won't print my reply!!!!!
Dogs. We love them, but they can make life interesting!

Like Ellie said, it's hilarious! (At least from our perspective!)

That was funny! Just a point...who was supposed to be in charge?
Having to walk a border collie, I do enjoy your story. Too funny
Hilarious! One of my very first public forays en femme was walking my very headstrong border collie who seemed to delight in dragging me to the exact spots I didn't want to be. He's a duffer now but no better especially if I'm in a skirt. He just seems to know (not at all surprising if you know the breed!).
Amusing and different indeed! One serious point: it's really quite rare to read details of problems and difficulties directly arising from wearing women's clothes but this post does it well. As one who is not able to venture out, my experience of wearing skirts - long, medium or short, tight or loose - is restricted to indoors. I therefore greatly enjoy reading details of the experiences of others.
