I saw on the local London (UK) News that there's a DragCon convention on at the Excel Centre in London this weekend, the show includes many Drag Race UK stars and was being opened by Ru Paul herself. Should I go? I'm not out so it would have to be in drab mode, I could catch the train and it wouldn't take too long. I mentioned this to the missus but she said that I would just look like a boring old man and what would she say to our 20's child who's living at home, that dads gone to a drag convention?. It's also £60 for a day ticket but I couldn't imagine staying there all day, but then again I've never been to a 'con' before so wouldn't know what to expect, and does it all hinge around the dressing up and the costumes so I would look really look out of place as an old grey haired man.
If you're in the UK and interested in going then here's the link.

Seems the wife isn't much into your dressing then, hence the negativity from her. I saw a bit about the show and it does seem to be about pure drag and I am not sure what the stalls will be about and of interest to you. There seemed to be quite a diverse mix of people attending including some 'sad old grey haired men' who all seemed to be enjoying themselves. If you really want to go , and I accept the entry fee is a bit steep, why not. Let's face it going to a London show would cost that for a few hours entertainment and you could have a show and more at the convention.
Do you go out for the day for any other reason? If so there is a cover for you to go. It has often been said that men have interests that their partners have no interest in whatsoever but tolerate the man going off to pursue them. What's the harm.
Hello Yvette,
I was lucky enough to go Dragcon in LA a few years ago with my SO, before I really started dressing enfeme and it was definitely worth the effort. I do have to confess that I did need to get over myself to enjoy it more but it is completely other world, Even though drag is mostly a gay thing, I think it is all about giving oneself the permission to be fabulous whether you are gay-straight, man-woman it really doesn't matter, it's about being your best self.
So I would say go if you feel you can "get over yourself" {as I had to} and enjoy a different world for a little while.
PS. If you see Bimini Bon Boulash, get her autograph for me :}

Gray old men go to drag shows. Why not a drag con? You only live once. So live a little on the wilder side! You'll thank yourself later.
