On the basis that you have many, probably to any reasonable eye, far too many, undies and outies, do you arrange your wardrobe or drawers in say colour or style order? Wired separate from non-wired? Special tights neatly folded (or rolled?) away from daily runaround cheapy tights? LBDs in their own special section? Jewellery safely set out to avoid tangling? Earrings neatly in pairs?

Are you in alphabetical order?

@valentina16

Not even close for me!  I have a panty drawer with them folded but not specifically arranged, a bra drawer with no particular order, and a hosiery drawer, again not specifically organized.  I do have three closets.  One for separates (skirts, tops, sweaters, slacks, etc) one for dresses and coats, and the smallest one for menswear.

@mkat3874 I think you may be maligning yourself Ms Kaylee, for you have three purposeful closets! That, to most of us, might pass the threshold of ‘being organised’. 💚

On one hand, I guess it is, but the finer organization detail is not so great.  When my kids moved out that left me with plenty of closet space.

@valentina16 My wife actually told me I needed a lingerie chest and suggested I build one, so I did. Bras arranged by brand and size, panties by style and material, nylons and nightgowns each have their own drawers. I don't arrange anything by color but by style.

Even the closet is that way. Shoes by type, flats together, heels together, boots on their own. Jeans and pants in one area, skirts and dresses together. Tops by style, sleeveless then short sleeve, then 3/4 then long.

My wife keeps things by color and I find that messy with sleeve lengths all over the place.

@cherylt If there were a best CD contender Ms Cheryl, I’m thinking you would be in the running for a prize, maybe even 1st prize 🏆! ☺️

@valentina16 A drawer for knickers, a drawer for bras, clinchers and suspender belts, a drawer for stockings, a drawer for tights. Long wardrobe for dresses, 2 railed wardrobe for skirts, tops and cardigans. Petticoats (I have a lot of them) are vacuum bagged to save space.

@valentina16 I pretty much group everything alike, wired with wired, Don't have any leggings yet. As for panties, its a jumbled mess, except for my very sexy pairs, those are nicely folded and in the own spot

Categorized, yes, organized, no

My wife and I share a lingeries chest, basically a tall narrow dresser. We each have three drawers. Of mine, one is matched bras and panties, another is bathing suits and fandom items like waist cinchers, girdles, and the third is otners items like nighties, teddies, etc. We each have a regular dresser, and mine has a drawer full of panties and another for most everything else of my femme wear, t-shirts, skirts, breast forms, wigs, makeup, et al. We also have a walk in closet and we each get half. One section of my side has my dresses.

I have some cloth drawer organisers. Does that count? 😇

My dresses ended up in a plastic suit cover, since I rarely can get to use them.

@harriette Well, how do I let you down gently Ms H? See, Ms Redhead VACUUM packs her clothes to save space. Ya can’t beat that Ms H. 😔

But, consolation prize for enthusiasm. 🌟

I have some sense of order but it always gets in a bit of disarray so needs a sort out quite regularly.

Given much of Caty's "Stuff" is stored in my storage locker about 30mins from home, I cant qualify as a "normal storer".

HOME

Bras and panties in one drawer, winter camis and tights in another. Summer silk  nightwear mixed in with my "drab clothes" in my wardrobe Separate "half size" for all my black lingerie. 3rd one winter tights and normal panty hose for cooler days

Separate small 3 drawer for summer daytime camis and some cami and french knicker sets

STORAGE.

Double retail dress rack with all my "outers" hung therefrom Stackable "hardware store" drawerss for more lingerie and hosiery.

I have an old office stationary cabinet with shelves for wigs, breast forms, shoes make up etc etc. Bottom two shelves are "wine bottle height". No further explaining required there.

Caty.

Although still a work in progress, I have a storage locker close to home which, I hope, will resemble a well organised walk in wardrobe, when finished. Being in a storage locker it will inevitably have a more industrial feel rather than anything glamorous.

So far, I have created some boot / shoe shelving; Boots at the bottom; Heels in the middle; Trainers at the top. These are then lined up in terms of heel height. I have just installed a clothing rack. Skirts on the left hand side which are hanging in order of length; Shortest to longest. Was considering going for some kind of colour scheme, like a paint card, but organizing by length looks better on the eye. On the right hand side I have my coats and jackets. Once again, hanging in order of length. Have also created some small shelving for my various tops and jumpers, which I tend to fold.

This just leaves the organisation of underwear (not that I have that much), wigs (I only have 4) and accessories such as scarves, gloves, hats, handbags and jewellry. Not forgetting, of course, my priceless forms. The current organisational status of these items is 'chucked in a couple of packing boxes' until I get the time to create some sort of drawer system.

A work in progress. To be continued.

@judevderl ‘Chucked in a couple of packing boxes’ you say. I’m thinking your puppies might be deserving of better? #justsaying 💚

@valentina16 They are certainly deserving of better! Have had a number of guilt trips recently over their current storage status. However, at least they are contained in a nice safe container within the said storage boxes, but they still need to find their rightful safe and secure home.

It could be said that their rightful safe and secure home is when they are attached to me, but this is not always possible!

Might pay them a visit later to check that they are well. 😊

@judevderl It seems I may have tweaked your CD inner conscience here, sorry, lol. When you buy your little (maybe big) cuties, don’t they come delicately and lovingly wrapped in felt-foam? Maybe use this. 💚

@valentina16 I think you may well have, Valentina! However, you have reminded me that despite them (my cuties) being in a box within a box, they are still lovingly wrapped in their original soft protective foam. My conscience is clearing by the minute!

Wasn't there a slogan / phrase along the lines of "Puppies are for life......." or was that Cats....... or Dogs? 🤔

@judevderl Love it. I may be minded to ask yet another (!) Q on the boards “Are CD puppies for life?” Yes, in the right context, this Q might just ‘have legs’, in hose or otherwise!

Take care

V.

I use old cardboard duplicating paper boxes for bras, briefs, jeans, jewelry, socks, and T's etc.  They have handles and covers and are strong enough to stack.  I mark and put them on open industrial steel shelves in my downstairs studio.  I do use 2 dresser drawers upstairs for simple immediate daily clothes.  My best things like dresses and suits get hung on rolling Z-frames.  I have seven Z-frames but then it helps to be a costumer.  Z-frames make life so much easier for me than stuffing a closet.  I hope that helps.  Marg

@valentina16   No, clothes are all dry and protected in my sealed work area.  You have to watch for moths on the wool but that's rare.  If something is damaged I repair it so it can be used again or stripped of its parts and then resewn anew.  That's just part of taking care of clothes and costumes.  It's more likely that they get stained when in use (think sweat, body odor, lipstick, makeup, gravy, beer and red wine as the usual problems).  I just cleaned a badly stained and retired 40 year old Las Vegas Showgirl stage dress and it came out like new (but cost me $25 for a special cleaning method plus 2 hours of my time doing mending repairs).  I might even wear it to a New Year's Party someday.  It's very flashy!

I'm somewhat organized, but not completely. My walk-in closet has 3 rails for hangers. One goes down one side of the closet at about waist high, one goes down all but two feet of the closet at waist high, and the last two feet are higher. So it's a good thing I have more skirts than dresses, since the closet just isn't designed to hold too many. Above the lower rails are shelves.

The full length side holds mostly my male stuff and some androgynous jeans. There is a lot of space here.

The other side I have tops in the front. They tend on their own to be organized by long sleeve and short sleeve. The remainder of that low rail are skirts. I do keep the skirts by color, except for a small selection of short summer skirts which are not organized but kept together. Although my dresses aren't really organized, my maid dresses and short white satiny dress tend to go to the back, along with a number of different color tutu length petticoats.

Foldable long sleeve tops are mixed with my (almost) androgynous women's tops (ones that I wear in male mode), while another drawer contains the same with short sleeve tops. I don't have enough panties to really separate them. I do keep opaque winter tights separate from (sheer) pantyhose (tights on the other side of the pond). I have bras and panty girdles in another drawer, but since I dropped a bra size (both band and cup), I have to go through them to remove ones that no longer fit. I would have considered giving them away this year at the Keystone conference (I gave away a lot of clothes last year) but I have to make a trip just before, so I will already have a lot of suitcases.

Shoes/boots are kept in an upstairs closet along with some rarely used women's clothing, a lot of square dance petticoats, and other items. I have a drawer for tee shirts, mostly I use for exercise, as well as well as socks. I have some skorts scattered in an armoir, along with bathing suits, men's underwear (I only wear it for waxing), men's shorts, turtle necks that can be worn in male or female mode, and a few miscelaneous stuff. Another drawer has a lot of tank tops.

I bought a jewelry box where I keep earrings and sometimes earring/necklace pairs, or plain necklaces. I bought a stackable drawer to keep some of my makeup.

My coat closet has some female-only coats, a number of almost androgynous coats/jean jackets/cardigans (I often wear in male mode), and one male winter coat. By the garage door i also keep a couple of winter women's coats (one red trench coat and one ankle length nylon quilted coat), along with a hat and some winter scarves. These are on hooks on the wall at the bottom of the stairs leading to the room over the garage.

There is much more of my girl stuff than my guy (or close-enough-to-androgynous women's) stuff. I can usually find what I'm looking for, but only my skirts are organized by color.
