I'm a driving instructor.
I had a phone enquiry from a person with a female name (C.P.) to book lessons.
Turned up for the lesson, knocked on the door & my immediate thought was "that's a bloke" - prominent adams apple, beard (very well shaved), hugely hairy.
Said Hi. Let's go into my car to sort out the paperwork.
Driving license identified as Miss C.P.
From that moment she was miss C.
She'd been taught (badly) by her mother failing 2 driving tests.
She loved the lesson (i showed her things with her own car that she did not know it could do) and at the end of the lesson she said how much she appreciated the way i explained things.
She identifies (according to her social media pages) as a MTF trans woman.
At some point we are going to have a conversation about that & I'm going to mention that normal people don't look that closely. Just look at my jeans. They are Size 14 female skinny jeans.
Just look at my socks - nobody notices that i wear stockings rather than socks .
I'm not going to show my knickers.
Half of my clothes are in my wife's wardrobe.
I work at Trader Joe’s.several9f my coworkers are trans (more transwoman). My joke about working there is if 10% of the world is LGBTQ then 10% of them work at a Trader Joe’s. My point being that I don’t even blink anymore if someone I work with or comes in and they are trans. It’s a non-issue
Many years ago I worked at a large company and there was a transwoman in my area. I had many conversations with her. My co-workers gossiped behind her back constantly. I hated that. I now work for a different company. My office is toxic and hate filled. I keep to myself. I had a business trip to a different part of our company and there were several transwoman and non-binary people there. It was wonderful to see them thriving.
I do regularly and I encounter a lot of people from different backgrounds and needs in my job. By and large, all people are just wanting the best job I can do for them and in my eyes that makes them all equal.
