Not looking to start any fisticuffs...  but I read many posts that say basically...  'I am at wits end because I have been stuck at home for the last year due to the pandemic.'

Well, I am one of those damn essentials.   I have been working the whole time at my regular job.  I wonder,  do you all who jave been really stuck at home, or out of work, really hope to get back to work?  I was stuck at sea on my ship last spring for an extra month due to the pandemic.   The shipping companies said no to crew relief.  Aside from a few delays due to potential exposure,  there was no stoppage in employment for me.  I work for 75 days on and 75 days off.  I hope thise who wish to work can soon get to work.  I see many open jobs up where I live.

Emily I am one of those Essentials who has worked right through the pandemic. I understand the frustration of many people who lives have been turned upside either by the lose of love ones or financial hardship even no job to go back too. What I found appalling as with many things attached to money is the fraud that is perpetrated by those that have no morals. Those that have sort to benefit from fraudulent activities through this pandemic should be jailed.

Hi Emily,

I have had it very very easy over the past year working a desk job from home. I have had plenty of time to do my nails, wear whatever I want from the waist down, take a nap etc. The social void did not cause me too much anxiety. I know that many many girls have had it much worse, and some continue to struggle. Thank you for your essential employment. I know that people like you kept the wheels from falling completely off.

Essential here too. Aside from a 3 week hiatus I have worked straight thru. Honestly I haven't really seen or even heard of anyone I know that got deathly ill from it. My father was down for 5 weeks but most of that was his unwillingness to hydrate properly.  I have however seen others milk that extra 300 a week out for a year plus when they could have been working.

Hi Emily, and thank you for your post.
I too am an essential, and while I can commiserate with those out of work,or stuck at home( and I really do feel for you all), I just want to shout out to those of us, who have had to deal with the added stress of being "out there", through all of this. being out and about, and dealing with who knows who is positive, is not an easy task either.
for those who choose not to get the vaccine and MAYBE protect us all, , Im at a loss for words.
Love you all, regardless.

Yes a essential worker here who else would help the people with gas and all to heat or cool homes and drive places.

Hi Emily, apparently my job in a well known restaurant is "essential". I worked though all but the first 6 weeks if it. I'm so glad I have as would have gone crazy otherwise, not that it hasn't been stressful at times.

Love Trish

I'm long-time retired and financially independent, so no personal problems for me...but my elder son was a warehouse supervisor when the freeze on imports put the company out of business. He was out of work for over 8 months, and it was tough on his family.

Well, I'm retired, but I did have a very part time job that was considered 'Essential', once a week for 3 or so hours making certain deliveries, but starting this Spring, the manager kept changing the job description as well as my pay as a result of the changes, so I quit.  It was rather nice actually to be outside going places, but of course just dropping things off with no human interaction. However, my SO and I are part of a rather small group of similar aged couples, retired, similar circumstances and we would continue to get together with just them every so often, mostly outside, so, other than not going out dining or having to cancel a European trip with these other couples, we were able to handle it.  And being in that age group we all got our shots (not one complaint from anyone in the group) about 4-5 months ago, and felt better about getting together occasionally.  Our adult children had some issues to overcome but were able to work from home and keep their jobs.

Emily.

I haven't stopped working right through, averaging 5 days a week, every week. Although I work in the "leisure" industry.....no, not that!!!...

....at the height of the pandemic, we were looking after doctors,  nurses, consultants etc....so full on!!

I do feel bad for the thousands stuck at home, or worse, all those who have lost their jobs.....it's been SO tough.

Grace ❤️❤️

I work in a small office and we all worked from home for 3 months and then came back in and have been ever since.

Wow work 75 days and then get 75 off. On first glance that sounds awesome....but 75 days is a pretty long time to be away.

Hi Emily I am not a essential worker I was physically able to work and wanted to go back to work and still very much want to. My wife and I have custody of three young children and  had to deal with the schools closing for no scientific reason. Unfortunately my wife was diagnosed with cancer of one of her breast just after the pandemic started. OMG It was this past year I learned what woman do to keep a family fed, to keep everyone healthy and happy if that is possible. I assure you getting cute and pretty is the last thing on their mind. Getting dressed with everyday clothes that are clean and looking some what presentable is a accomplishment. The effort of getting three children in front of a computer screen for 5 - 6 hours per day 5 days a week. Believe me I wanted to go back to work. Instead I was getting the children up and saying its time to get up and get dressed and hearing WHY SHOULD I GET DRESSED. Getting breakfast ready find out we ran out of milk. It was just crazy. I had to do all the food shopping, cleaning the house, preparing meals, that every one liked [Impossible task] I did get help from two of the children. Thank goodness my mother in law helped with all the laundry. Please take in consideration that there are single woman with children trying to do it all. They are just collateral damage . GET THE SCHOOLS OPEN. Our children deserve to get a education. Sorry for getting political. Think twice before wanting to be a woman in today's world. Getting cute and pretty is the last thing on their mind. There is nothing wrong with wanting to express your self and get some confirmation that you are part of the female world despite the body you were given. You can do both with some help from people here at CDH or even better our SO's. A little understanding can go a long way towards happiness. Something we all want.

Luv Stephanie
