Thanks Gabriela for the information.. it is my understanding that electrolysis is more permanent than laser but more expensive... I don’t think electrolysis is good for girls like me with gray hairs lol.. what do you think??

Is there an affordable treatment for permanent hair removal?

I'm considering the options

I've been doing IPL at home, to include my face. Although it doesn't exactly prevent hair from growing back, over time it is reducing how fast it grows, and it has become somewhat softer in addition to not needing to shave every day. This also only works on dark hair, so that's as it is.

I've been having electrolysis done once a week for 10 weeks now... it looks like I have about half of the density as I used to. She removed the dark hairs first so I no longer have the shadow after I shave. Now she is working on the grey ones. I'm guessing about 10-15 more sessions. But it all depends on how thick your beard was in the first place...and how quickly the person works. She know what she is doing, been doing this for 35 years...

As far as pain goes... about the same or less than plucking your eyebrows...until you get to the upper lip. Then there is a bit more discomfort.

Hope this helps some...

Hugs, MaryAnn.

Effie I am sorry I haven’t responded earlier but just noticed this thread. I have had extensive laser on face, arms, legs, underarms and chest. There is a lot to know such as light skin and dark hair are your best result combination. It takes 7-10 sessions at roughly 4-6 weeks between sessions for best results. After a session your hair will actually get “thicker” for 5-10 days as the follicles give up their hair. You will need follow up sessions every 8-12 months after completion. As most of this has all been covered please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Take care and good luck.

Effie I wish you the best. You will look a little “sunburned” for a few days but try to let them use the highest setting your comfortable with. My cupids bow and right around my lips was the most sensitive so be ready for a little snap.

🦋 I do have a high pain tolerance but I’m prepared for the worst 😆.. the fun part is that I came out at the laser place as cd/trans.. this being the biggest first step for me in my journey.. 🌺😊.. and they call me Effie even in guy mode .. ❤️

I did the same with the salon that does my work and all they have ever seen is Carolyne. No judgement and they treat me awesome. Enjoy this new step, BUT be ready to change the way you do your makeup. 😂😂
