In my daily feed, today, the New York Times had an article about a newish fashion "mistake" - pantyhose as pants. This seems like a terrible idea, especially for CDs.
A picture of a Jenner was given as an example.
So, this got me thinking. We should collect a bunch of fashion faux pas, to help keep CDs looking our best.
I will start off with one, usually done in men's fashion. Brown shoes with blue pants. It just looks weird.
I looked this one up in a colour wheel (they are complimentary colours). It's a go there and in nature - sandy beaches with blue skies, for example.
However, in women's fashion, brown belts with blue jeans dresses seems to be a go.
The classic is not dressing age-appropriate.
Just got to check that I'm reading this correctly; in English, this would be "tights as trousers"? If so, not something that should be for any CD or pre-op TG. As for other fashion faux-pas, I'm told that tights and sandals/open toed shoes is "hors de combat" - though I can't really see why! As for clashing colours - surely (as the Bard said) "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"... Holly XXX
In todays world where we are free to express ourselves through clothing I have one issue about ladies that have a lot of unwieldy extra where the 'cup over floweth' as it where - Leggings.
Gosh, where could I start with mine?
In public, I would agree.
At home, I say not guilty.
Try one, see where it leads. 😉
I think the "rule" is that reinforced toe and heel stockings or pantyhose should not be worn with open-toe shoes or sandals. If you can see two tones, then it is a no-no.
I don't see much objection against regular nude or coloured stockings. With some nude/skin coloured stockings, it would be difficult to even notice the stockings.
First thought...."Oh, God"
My biggest fashion faux pas is similar to what Angela had to say. Why do gals who are more than on the heavy side feel that skin tight makes them look thinner? No! They look like sausages trying to burst from their skins!
Exposed midriff when that is the LAST thing that someone should do!
First and foremost, people should wear what they want. There is no rule that most be followed. If there were, we are all me be violating the big one about men wearing dresses. My post is about esthetics, not prohibitions. There are clearly men who do not wear femme wear well, and others, as seen in the gallery, who look fantastic. That does not mean the ones who don't look fantastic can't wear a dress or overweight HHS can't wear tights, just that they are best in certain situations and not others.
A few things:
I love that pantyhose is back. My legs have freckles and pantyhose makes the color of my legs look nice and consistent. I also love black pantyhose.
I've seen pictures of pantyhose with high waisted briefs over them and thought that it looked incredibly sexy. Not that I have the body for it or a place to wear it..unfortunately. Maybe yesterday was my chance...
Fashion Faux Pas.. Too many to remember. Age-inappropriate clothing is a constant theme for me. I guess my woman age is much less than my physical ang and I'm making up for lost time. I also had the tendency to buy something just because I wanted to wear it regardless of whether or not it looked right on me or if I had a place to wear it. Most of this stuff went in one purge or another.
And there are a lot of women's tops that are either short or short in the front that make it impossible to cover the belly. Sleeves that are noticeably longer than the body.
These don't do a CD much good if we haven't eliminated our body hair there.
