Hi gals, I know I'm not the only one who has to but recently I found my depression has returned. For me it has only ever been mild, I've never felt suicidal or anything, just takes away all my motivation and makes me teary and short tempered. I find the blue fog does tend to drift in occasionally, for me as it has recently. Usually I cycle to get rid of it and talk to my friends and family. Im currently waiting for healthy minds to call me as I think it's more serious this time.

My question is how do you lovely ladies fight though the blue fog when it strikes?

Hello Trish..

Living alone, i was becoming depressed and didn't even realise what was wrong. I had a bit of a meltdown....but I'm fighting back by becoming more positive. Thinking of the good things in life and not dwelling on problems or if i are spending time alone, doing something i like doing... anything  a hobby, keep busy...taking your mind of things....just like cdh.

I found while i was here, there was so much going on, but when i logged off....it was suddenly very very quiet...too much time to think, blowing up the tiniest thing into a massive worry. When i signed back on to CDH, and returned here, the girls were a lifeline of support for me...i couldnt believe the love...i felt it !!!

They actually sent such a cloud of pink fog my way....the blue fog didn't know what hit it....

So chin up trish honey, look what you have achieved since you came here....you now go to work as trish, you have lots of girls here who love you and you really don't have time to be down.... there's so much to look forward to...

Love, grace ❤️❤️

Glad you have friends and family to talk to Trisha.

And outdoor exercise is so good for the soul too, feeling the sun on your face, hearing birds sing, even rain on your face makes you feel more alive. It also has physical benefits for the circulation, GI system and aids a good sleep pattern.

Indulging the passion we all share for expressing our femininity is also great for lifting the mood. A little of what you love goes a long way.

Keep yer chin up my friend, Spring is here, and soon Summer will hopefully evaporate that black cloud over your head.

❤️Bianca

There’s no easy way to fight it, for me at least. Depression hits me in many different forms when those time arrive. In the past I used to dress to fight off the depression. Then when it got bad dressing didn’t work. Through counseling I’ve found new ways, exercising, writing, finding new hobbies. I’ve started woodworking and gardening. They help but I still have hard times. I also struggle with high anxiety and anger. Find a few different techniques for different episodes. Wish you all the best.

Sorry to hear your depression is worsening. Like many have said healthy activities all help. As cliche as it sounds journaling, walking, seeing people, hygiene & looking pretty are all good. Consider any activity that you don't want to do but may enjoy it afterwards.  Typically when my depression worsens I like to use mental health apps. Sometimes I just need help thinking clearly. I love using the CBT AI app woebot (no cost). I also find myself needing to put my  money away. I've fallen prey to the old trap of buying stuff to make you feel better approach. Hint, doesn't work. As always if you have access to it contact your family doctor, counselor or psychiatrist. Maybe a look at medication/readjustment is needed.

As others have said it will get better. This is an illness that is treatable. It will have its ups and downs. Be kind to yourself & others, be realistic in what you can and can not do because some days will just suck. That is ok.

Regards,

Sivvi

So sorry to hear of your depression, Trish. What you describe as the depression you suffered in the past sounds a lot like what I also have at times. Being with friends and family can help or like you said exersize especially in the sunshine. If you need to talk with someone there are probably at least a dozen girls here at CDH who would love to talk to you

I think I fell into that trap tonight 😅. I did need a belero or two, only spent £21.  Will look into that app you mentioned. Also want to upcycle some of drab jeans into skirts, a new skill I want to learn. It's currently wet and windy here in the UK so I think I save a proper bike ride to next weekend when I have 2 days off in a row, there even Friday and Saturday!! I am riding to work now, think I'll keep doing it and push myself to exercise whist doing it.

Hi honey the weather here in the UK is due to be crap for the next week or so , but I am going to cycle to work and push myself at the same time, get the adrenaline rush. Think I may just put out an open invite like Tanya did a week or two back, if I'm too busy talking I can't be blue.

I have stopped putting on make up for work, so think I'll restart that, exercise wise I'm going to resume cycleing to work and try and get a good ride in every other week.

Hi hon, I do like writing poetry, funnily enough most of my poems are written in the blue fog. Got one that I need to rewrite as I lost the original that's not about negative emotions. Guess I'm getting my pen out again.

Hi Trisha,

You’re on the right road by starting your ride to work effort.  Starting a new hobby to give your mind an opportunity to explore things or challenge yourself.  You mentioned sewing and recycling drab jeans into a skirt.  You could take on other challenges like word puzzles, crosswords, or the like?  There are free puzzles on the web.  Or listen to a new genre of music.  Many streaming services have free offerings.  Or you can listen to free podcasts.  Keeping busy doing something fun keeps the mind engaged and you’ll be able to stop worrying.

Thankyou for the ideas I do like sudoku and have Spotify premium. There's lots of podcasts on there, could even listen whilst making a skirt or two

Hi Trisha,

Great idea to combine!  I never have figured out how to fill the Sudoko boxes.

It's alright I never been able to complete a crossword. I'm dyslexic so just can't spell longer words.
