A milestone was passed today, when my wife of 30 years decided she could go for a day out shopping with me in my Joanna persona. She’s always been very supportive, but had been worried about how to interact with me in public. However, just treating Joanna as another of her girlfriends worked fine for us both! I’ve uploaded a photo she took this afternoon, albeit just of Joanna.
Looking forward to spending more time out and about together.
@joannat Sounds wonderful. Were only at 23 years so maybe by the time we hit 30 ill be ready for that lol. My wife probably wouldn't bat an eyelash either way. @joannat congratulations. I'm happy for you, and a bit jealous. My wife hates my dressing up and is anxiously waiting the day I grow out of it.
@raven188 I am extremely lucky to have her as my eternal soulmate. She actually cried when I told her just how amazing the ladies on here have said she is.
@joannat My wife met Patty a couple of weeks after we met. I didn't intend for her to meet Patty, but she surprised me showing up at my place ona Saturday morning. I had been out femme the night before at a party. I got home late and left some of my clothes lying about. When she came in she saw them.
She was very apologetic about showing up. She thought I lived with a girl. I decided to come clean and tell her about Patty. She asked me to show her. I went in the bedroom and go dresses, makeup and all. When I came out she was stunned. She was amazed at how pretty and sexy I was and how different I looked. She suggested we go out as girlfriends.
That day we went out shopping and bought lots of nice things for both of us. Then we wore hose things for many more girl's times out.

My wife and I regularly go out together. She refuses to treat as one if the girls. She calls me by my name (in not allowed a girls name), and when talking to others she refers to me as he. She's more than happy to be out and about with me, but refuses to think of me as anything other than her husband. I doubt really mind, but being called he, sort of gives the game away 😉

@dazzler My own wife had the odd slip of the tongue, but this is all new to her. By the afternoon it was Joanna or Jo all the way.
I think she’s finding just treating Joanna as another girlfriend the easiest way.
The sad part is akin to an actor playing in character but referred to as the actor.
Which mode I'm in or anyone's in is how I refer to them. Unless otherwise told.

@dazzler That is so interesting. I can see myself taking your wife’s attitude of “I married a man, not a woman!” As time goes by though I’m sure I’d start to play along.
On the other side of the coin, here you are looking ladylike and your wife referring to you as “him” in public. Doesn’t that further the cause for us? When women wear our clothes we still refer to them as women, yes? Seems to me scenarios such as yours only reinforce the idea that men in women’s clothes could someday become just another clothing option.

@gracepal When en-drab, I often wear opaque tights with my shorts and Converse hi/tops. Makes for a nice halfway outfit, and nobody bats an eyelid.

How wonderful for you. I can only imagine how you felt being out and about with your wife as girlfriends. There have been times when my wife has invited Suzanne to spend the day and she has said it is like hanging out with a girlfriend, which is something she didn't get to do growing up. Going out in public will never happen (I know never say never) as she won't let me shave off my goatee. When we go shopping though she will point something out asking if Suzanne would like it, makes me feel good when she does.
Hope you have more outings like that in the future.
