Plenty of times I have talked to a shop assistant or a waiter in a cafe but never have I ever gone anywhere to meet and chat with people and introduce myself to anyone as Olivia. Here in Australia we have a awesome bunch of people called the Queer Sporting Alliance who's aim is to provide a safe space for all LGBTQIA+ to participate in sport. They have basketball, netball and roller skating at this stage. It just turns out I had done roller skating fitness classes the last few years and have really enjoyed it so I thought I would go and see what it is like. After some nervous decision making I decided to throw caution to the wind and go as Olivia.
Shaking like a leaf I walked past the front door once before walking in. I was instantly greeted by friendly faces and my nerves soon went away and I found myself chatting away like normal. I was in a safe and comfortable place where everyone was just free to be themselves without judgement. It was so refreshing to freely talk about being gender fluid and to hear the others situations. There were some amazing skaters there and some people only just learning. The two hours flew past and saying goodbye one moment struck me as special when a girl who had taught me a new dance move called out "Bye Olivia. Nice to meet you". That was the first time anyone had ever called me by my female name and it was a shock but a good one. I smiled the whole way home.
So if anyone who likes sports and is happy to be out in public femme I can't recommend them highly enough. Does anyone have anything similar in your country?

Thank you Suzanne. It was amazing. Unfortunately it was interstate. I was visiting a mate but next time I visit him I will be going again for sure.
Glad to see you had such a nice time Olivia. Felt good just being one of the girls, didn't it?
