As I approach my first time out fully dressed, I'm wondering what choices you made (dress, skirt, slacks, how much make up, hose or not, bra size, etc), and how happy, ecstatic, woeful, etc., you were with your selection. Upon reflection, what would you change?
I have always tried to blend in with the other women. For my first time out, I wore a simple outfit including a sweater, stirrup pants (dating myself!), a pair of boots and a leather cost. It worked fine at the time. The one time I regret my choices was a trip out in Las Vegas. I wish I had been more daring! I wore a LBD and simple heels. In hindsight, I wish I had worn something like my romper and OTK boots!
Oh my, my first venture in the public eye was a long time ago. I wanted to go "unnoticed" and dressed as I felt everyone else would. I wore jeans and a cute blouse with flats, but I did wear pantyhose. My makeup was probably heavier than most for obvious reasons but not glamorous so as not to draw attention.
What would I do differently? Well, I'd tone down my makeup a bit more and actually wear something more feminine like a skort with cute sneakers or even ankle boots. Of course those days are long gone and now I just wear what I want and no longer worry about what others may think.
