Searching away on the GOOGLE and a question came to mind. With all the different breast forms out there and the different shapes, what shape of forms do you use and why?

I ask because I am looking into my first pair and I'm wondering if I should be going with the triangle or pear shape? Does the form shape change the type of bra to be worn?

Great question Tiffany. Although I can't help as I'm in exactly the same place as you 😂. Will be interesting to see what our more experienced sisters have to say on the subject xx.

@tiffany8 I have both types - breast plate and tear-drop forms. The forms are very nice for "every day" or a spur of the moment enhancement. My breast plate needs makeup to match my true skin tone, plus it has an obvious neck line and arm line/openings, so the outfit I choose must accommodate those transitions. I use my breast plate more in the winter/cool weather - under sweaters, coats, etc., - or when I plan to be outside longer in cooler weather. I can also wear them with a one piece swim suit in a hot tub or pool setting. The forms are better in my world for summer time - T Shirts, short sleeves or sleeveless tops where the neck and arms might show. I haven't figured out how to hide the neck line with the breast plate just yet. Any other girls out there have any ideas on that??

Danielle, I had a makeover earlier this year and the MUA just used a chunky necklace to hide the neck line of the breastplate. Double win for me as I'd never worn jewellery before xx.

@tiffany8 The first pair of forms I got were tear drop shaped and I was not a fan of how they looked. I kept them but ordered a pair of triangle shaped forms instead and I love how they look. I am very broad shouldered and all the information I said was if you have a wider chest then get triangle shaped forms, they help to fill out the chest better. I hope this helps.

@tiffany8 You most welcome ! I am happy that I could help. If you are still looking I would recommend you look on amazon. I ordered a pair from Vollence and have been super happy with them. They are fairly priced and they normally have many sizes in stock. I have had my C Cup size ones for just over a year and I wear them pretty much daily.

Hi Syndee,

I like Vollence a lot. I also have a C cup. I have had them for about a year now. Daily usage? Yes, and I even wear them to bed at night. To wake up and know that I have breasts is exhilarating.

@dovemtn2016 I have forms from Vollence from an A up to D but I find myself wearing the B and C most. I also wear mine to bed most of the time, pretty much the only time I don't wear them is at work and if my wife asks me not to, other than I am wearing them.

@dallen I so agree with you, my first pair was the triangle and being a bit broader they fill out and I get a better look so much better in my bra's. I do have some tear drop but they just don't fill my bra's as well......

@bluefin Thanks Becky, I still have the tear drop shaped forms but just because I can't bring myself to throw them out. I have found that they work well when I am in a swimsuit but I do agree that they don't fill the cups in a bra correctly.

@tiffany8 I use a small variety of small to medium forms depending on the seasons, 400g, to about 150g. Most are teardrop and one pair of 150 triangular forms. Don't ignore the effects of your bras on how this all looks. I have not used sticky forms.

I like my triangular forms the best, but they are small and mismatched in weights. The shape is better, but, as usual, you need the right bra to keep them in place. Pocket bras can hold the forms fairly well, so can some firm cups. I watched a bigger woman from behind and noticed the spread of her real breasts spilling about her bra. That kind of natural shape is hard to replicate with firm forms and firm cups.

The teardrop or pear shapes may not fill in padded cups well, so there may be gaps inside and the form may move around, depending on the bra. If the bra is a push-up bra, it may not work with any silicone form. A bean bag may work better with these. Demi cup bras are not a good idea for holding forms.

However, recently, I found that the lightweight bras with no firm shape, such as sleep bras, may work out for the teardrops. They gave me a very natural spread and allowed a good bounce because they aren't rigid. What I find unnatural are bras with the apexes of the cups close together. To me, looking down, that seems more natural for a younger, more perky person. Seniors tend to have, um, more spread, even though I am fit.

So, don't be rigid in your thinking. There are advantages and disadvantages for all forms. Choosing the right bra is very important, too. What looks you want to have are the result of a combination of parts, so plan how you want to look first, then try to find what works for you. The end results may take a bit of experimentation and mistakes.

Tip: front closure bras may separate when wearing forms, so test moving around in them with forms before going out in public. You may save yourself from being embarrassed.

@harriette Great information. I do agree with the type of bra will also be a factor. I found out quickly that push up bras will just push the forms out of the cup even if I use an adhesive on them. I have found that I prefer full coverage, underwire and thin lined bras. T-shirt bras are nice but the unlined fit closer to my natural chest and seem to hold the forms in place better.

I have a breastplate with east - west shape.  To me they look more natural and fit my outfits better.

I do like the look of them better as well. I'm just too big of a girl for breast plates. For now at least. I'm working with my Dr to loose A LOT of weight.

I couldn't tell you what's better or not, or if it's all just preference. Mine are tear drop/pear forms that I put in a pocket bra.

Report back with what you find out! 🙂

I wear the basic teardrop shaped forms which are best for my shape (tall, thin). Others will have to give you advice on the triangles because I don't know what they're best for. But if you do get any forms, it's best to wear an underwire bra to keep the forms from moving around too much.

I have had both. I will only use triangle shaped. They stay put. Tear drop move around and do not fill my bra with a natural shape. My opinion. Your mileage...blah blah.

I started decades ago with tear drop forms.  I never really liked them however.  I now use Triangle forms and for my shape they work well.  I am broad shouldered a 42C.

@dovemtn2016 Out of curiosity, Christine, how much does one C cup form weigh, in grams?

I think that the biggest that I have is a B, but they are sold by grams.

Hi Harriette. I would go to Amazon and look at the product description. I wear my forms a lot and I find them to be very comfortable. Also Harriette, with right bra they look great. For me I get an emotional rush every time I wear them.

About 7 years ago, I watched a YouTube video by a dresser who was telling us about forms. His suggestion was, "If you are crossdressing, then you need round shaped ones".

I went that route and used them for a while but soon became unsure of them and got both teardrop & triangle shapes. I settled for the triangle in the end and have been using them daily ever since.

Google "Girl Talk with Paola". She did a nice tutorial on forms.

Being a plus size most of my bra's are underwire. I think it's kinda of trying what you like and how the different forms fit your frame. I have a couple pairs of triangle and a pair of tear drop. I LOVE my triangle forms.  I have not tried a breast plate some love them my shoulders would prevent me from getting it on, and if I did don't know how I'd ever get it off. LOL  I have bought mine on E-Bay so you can kinda go the cheaper route to start and see what you like. I am starting to maybe think about getting better quality forms.......

I have DD triangle forms, DD teardrop forms, and F teardrop forms.  The DD teardrop forms are what I wear 80% of the time.  They are significantly larger, and heavier than the triangle forms.  They project further out.  I'm not sure how the triangle forms I have could be described as DD cups but they are.  What I do with them is use them when wearing a Lace bralette.  The DD teardrop forms are too heavy for the lace bralettes.  If I wore them with the bralettes, bending over the wrong way will let the forms drop out of the bralette.  That's never happened with the triangle forms.  I wear the F cup teardrops once or twice a week at home as I just like feeling as though I have a really large set of boobs.  They let you know they are there.

I am a transgender woman, I started out years ago using cloth covered foam teardrop shaped mastectomy forms that I found, believe it or not, at my local Sears department store. They've lasted through the years until I transitioned to living as a woman full time. I went for bra fittings and my first set were also teardrop mastectomy forms made in Germany by 'Amoena'. They were designed to go into a pocket bra. I didn't like the pocket bras as they're not "pretty" at all. The forms developed tears in the membrane and I returned them. After more research I ended up buying 'Gold Seal Collection' triangle forms from The BreastForm Store. The girls there were very good at fitting and explaining the benefits of triangle forms. They look real because they're designed to replicate the shape of real breasts. Real breast tissues isn't teardrop shaped, it spreads out to the side and wraps around your rib cage. This is very beneficial for us girls with a wider rib cage! They look real enough that I've had girls at work ask me if I had implants. Mine are size 8 D-cup and I wear them with a 42D underwire WonderBra breathable T-shirt bra and the combination is truly "wonderful" and is what I wear every day.

Hugs,

Ms. Lauren M
