So i have been with the same company for almost 20 years.  I was an expert at what i was doing.  A couple of weeks ago i was informed that my group would not be supporting my product set.  So basically laid off but with time to find something internal.  I did find something but am so nervous about Monday.  Really bothering me im to old for this starting over.  I have to learn a completely new roll and product set.  Please wish me luck.  Love you all.  Dorothy

Thank you Kate.  Im really feeling so overwhelmed right now and no one seems to get it.  I have been in a major support role for a long time and being transitioned to front line.......

Hi Dorothy Anne!

Good luck and hope it all works out!

I've been through 3 careers without any apparent overlap, but the skill-sets were all the same. I started my last career at the age of 41 and had 15 more wonderful working years. I get bored easily and can't do the same thing over and over (ADHD!). Thankfully, all my occupations were on the creative side of things.

Cheers,

Barb

Dorothy, I understand your apprehension, but if you were able to become an expert at what you were doing, then you clearly have skills and ability. You may find you end up LIKING the new challenge and do just as well!

Obviously, we don't know what the future holds, but control the things you can control. Jump in with enthusiasm and humility and you should do well!

*kisses* tara 🙂

Dorothy, stay strong honey. 18 months ago we were a staff of 130, we are now just over 30. I’m the wrong side of 60 to find a new job. Good luck tomorrow…

Good luck Dorothy. It’s a scary thought but most people don’t give themselves enough credit. I hope it all works out for you!

I know you felt secure and comfortable with your old job having it for so long but change doesn't have to be a bad thing but can be an exciting challenge. I believe many times we over think and we can be our worst enemy worrying about what could happen but rarely does. You mastered your last role and you can master your new role. You've got this. Be brave and try to relax.

The relax is the hardest part.  New manager, new product set, new responsibilities, I am just feeling overwhelmed.  Thank you for the thoughts.
