It's renaissance fair time...I plan to attend Sunday and I have my outfit already picked out. I have a peasant blouse, long skirt with a split half way up my thigh and some flats. I will add some jewelry and a waist belt with pouch. I have a couple of original WW2 Samurai Katana's and I may carry one across my back like a wild Amazon warrior. Ren Fest is one of those places where you can go dressed as anything you want to go as, so I use it to dress up and enjoy some Cosplay. Last year I wore a short women's kilt, under bust corset and white peasant top.
Does anyone else go to things like this to enjoy time dressed in fun girly things. Disney is another place I have gone dressed, when they have Dapper Days it is the perfect opportunity to wear a rockabilly dress with a tulle skirt underneath or some nice 70's era go-go girl fashion. I enjoy backpacking and camping and have a couple of hiking kilts that are a lot of fun to wear.
People should look around and see if there are opportunities like the ones above to dress and have fun while not worrying if you are seen or being hassled.
Hi Carla,
Yes, generally I attend all the local festivals, such as the Jonquil Fest, Mayretta Daze, and this year's huge Big Shanty Fest. This weekend there is a Greek Festival is East Cobb. I also attend various celebrations & ceremonies, in particular veterans' events. I do all these cross dressed.
The Renaissance is one I don't do.
I normally announce all festivals and events in the Atlanta Girls Group here on CDH, which then allows group members to make arrangements to attend, if they so desire. An auto-repeat feature sends the announcement out to each group member via a PM.
Cheers,
Peggy Sue
I had a really wonderful time today, nice weather and the Ren Fest was busier than I have ever seen it. Nothing like being out around a few thousand people all having a great time and most dressed up in such wonderful and creative costumes.
Yeah, renfaires and Comic-Con’s are two great types of events where anyone can express themselves freely. I just went to a renfaire myself as well. It was actually my first time wearing my new, and first, breast forms. I wore a short steampunk dress and hat one day of the renfaire. That was great, I got a few compliments from people, which is always nice.
I actually feel more comfortable at cons though. I just kind of get the vibe of most men trying to be ultra masculine at renfaires. And that is definitely not me. Where at cons, lots of people are there dressing up as their favorite characters. And it feels like the gender of those character matters a lot less, if you know what I mean.
