No self-respecting CD girl would miss any opportunity to blossom in some little way at least, would they? Do you have either an emergency ‘I know everything is in here’ bag? Or maybe a man-bag filled with essential accoutrements? Do you keep one in your car/truck? And if you’re fully transitioned, presumably you are entitled to place a spare pair, discretely in your fine leather hand bag.

Is every CD moment essential to you?

@valentina16 No - I can dress at home whenever I like. Our house has a dressing room and the space is fully utilised,

My 'go bag' doesn't have room for vanity items.  Its purpose is to hold the bare essentials I need to survive and recover from an emergency or dire situation.

@lizk Hi Elizabeth, just curious do you carry "protection" in your go bag???

I often do carry something in my purse. But the laws on concealed carry do not apply here (outside the US).

@fatima Are we talking guns or pepper spray or personal alarms?

No.  I have no desire to own a firearm.  I would consider carrying pepper spray depending on the situation.  That said, I have yet to encounter a situation where I felt I might need to use it.

@lizk Is ok. There are enough others who do. I was just wondering if any girls carried protection.

@lizk I was a boy cub but not a scout. I have always subscribed to the motto "Be Prepared". I see nothing wrong with being prepared. My American sisters are lucky in my view in that they can carry protection. Becca makes the point below that everything that could be used as a weapon is illegal in the UK. And yet people still get knifed/killed in the street. In my view carrying a small polymer frame 9 mil in a girl's purse is a reasonable thing to do. Loaded but not in battery. It should be legal in my country too. After all there is lots of violent crime against women including we crossdressers. Very Sad

@fatima In the UK, carrying anything, and I mean anything, that could be construed as an offensive weapon, is illegal. This includes any sort of weapon—knife, hammer, a pointed object that would be out of place (sharpened screwdriver, for example). Also no pepper spray, mace or anything else that has been prepared in such a way as to be able to be deployed easily in an offensive manner. That said, you could probably carry things like chilli powder to throw, but you are just as likely to get it in your own eyes.

One thing you always have to be aware of is that if you carry any sort of offensive item, you'd better be sure you can use it, because if you get it taken off you, you can have your own items used against you—and that would be rather ironic.

I know a lot of Americans carry guns but how many of them know how to use them properly and are aware that if confronted by a criminal who is also carrying a gun, that person is inevitably going to be more likely to use their weapon, and be better at it too.

If gun-carrying was legal in the UK, there would be a lot of deaths. Road rage in the British driver is bad enough without giving them something they could use without getting out of their car!

I'm quite happy to have guns banned in the UK, as for the most part, the illegal weapons are only used by gun-toting gang-members to shoot other gang-members—and that's no great loss, just Darwinism in action.

Most often, the only 'protection' UK citizens carry is a condom or two 🤣 .

@rebeccabaxter I didn’t know that carrying pepper spray was actually illegal, but thinking about it, I can see it perhaps should be. Not sure either how you could carry it in an offensive manner. I suppose the best option is personal alarm.

@rebeccabaxter And still people get knifed in the street. I have been a member of the American National Rifle Association for some years and I read the news items. Citizens are armed for a good reason. NA is way different from UK. If'n I lived in the USA and was a citizen I would be carrying a sidearm for sure. Prob a .40 S&W. I am a pretty good shot as it stands and an attacker would not likely survive. As it stands in this country of Canada the punks get to carry and rarely get challenged by the coppers. If one goes after me on the street I will be totally defenseless. Is that a good thing? Depressed

@fatima maybe I’ve been watching too many crime-police tv series (Chicago PD being my current dalliance), but they seem to say that they (criminal-punks) are generally quite selective when they use firearms as with ballistics these days, they only get one free anonymous shot, so they save it for those who really need it, likely to be another punk? You’re probably safe therefore. But I could be being naive on this. I’m just looking at the number of absolute tragedies this side of the pond, and the fact that they often don’t involve firearms. Just as deadly using knives of course, sadly. I dunno, I’m spending so much time on here lately I don’t always keep up with the news.

@gafran So Ms Fran, does this include you playing in this superb bowling competition thingy this evening? Apparently, they’re all dressed up in tight fitting spandex, and (I will start the rumour!) they’re ALL UNDERDRESSED!! Sure thing. I heard it announced by a guy at a podium so it must be true! 💚🤣🏈💚

@valentina16 All of Michelle's things are in one regular size suitcase and one carry on that holds my shoes and three hanging garment bags.  I can grab it all and be out the door before the fire trucks arrive:)  I am envious though of my sisters that have their own closets or dressing rooms.  How awesome that must be.

@michellemybell Yes, envy, guilt, secrecy, these can be the all too familiar emotions some of us experience. Here’s to the time in 2525 that we will share the same store shelves, the words Ladies or Men’s (restrooms, tights, all wear etc) will have been placed in the archives 💚

@melodeescarlet At a push, I can do twenty five minutes from naked to leaving through the front door (not including showering or shaving). It's a far cry from when I first started and my wife was helping me with makeup. It took a long time then, mostly because I kept sticking eyeliner pens in my eyes and tearing up when applying mascara; my nose would also run when plucking my eyebrows! Being a girl can be uncomfortable at first.

@rebeccabaxter I see you are a veritable committed CD BB. If I did such to my eyebrows etc my ‘unknowing’ friends (and worse, my work colleagues) might of course become ‘knowing’ quite quickly. Not at all ready for (or wanting) this tbh. Glad you’ve found your balanced peace. 💚☺️💚

When I have a long drive ahead of me… I’ll wear a denim skirt, ladies sandals and a bra under a casual top. But no further attempts to look female. So I guess that would be in my go back. To get fully dolled up i need a spacious bathroom and a mirror lol

I used to carry a bag with drab clothes for those "emergencies". Then those times happened and I didn't have the time to use it. I broke down on the Interstate and after calling for a tow I didn't even have the time. A trooper stopped "M'am is everything ok?", yes, thank you the tow is coming. Then here's the tow truck. Oh well, let's go. Broad (no pun intended) daylight it was. He drove me home, unloaded the vehicle and I had to get my things out so I could take them inside and then change to look at the vehicle. We had a nice conversation on the way and he was nothing but polite and made no remarks or anything that showed he knew or cared.

Then there was the night the wife and I went for takeout. I was stopped for an illegal U-turn. The officer was nothing but professional and gave me a warning.

No more go bag. I don't need the security blanket anymore. I've been tested and survived.

@cherylt so Ms Cheryl, based on a statistical population of albeit just two, a polite CD lady is more likely to be able to dodge a ticket, is that what we’re concluding?! 💚😜💚

@valentina16 Wasn't my poiiteness it was my ultra clean driving record. They run your license for tickets and accidents and I haven't had any in over 35 years. When they see that they are very lenient.

@cherylt In the UK, if you get caught speeding, you've been caught speeding and that's that; speed cameras have no compassion. There is leeway over and above the listed speed limit and if you are over that, but not by much, you get offered a speed awareness course which will get you off having points on your licence (get 12 points and you are usually banned from driving for up to a year).  I had to do a SAC early last year for doing 36.6 mph in a 30 limit; previous to that I hadn't had a motoring offence for 33 years.

@rebeccabaxter I wasn't speeding. Seems the town has No U Turn signs on every corner and I never ever saw them. We got our take out and no one was in sight either direction so I just turned and went towards home. I didn't see the officer as he was coming down the hill I was facing just in time to see me make the turn.

We don't have traffic cams here. We barely have 1 traffic light.

@rebeccabaxter I drive in Detroit Mi. For work and if you’re not going 20 over the speed limit you’re going to be run off the road, it’s insane driving there.

When staying out of town for work I carried a duffle bag with most of my femme clothes in it. When local, it stayed in my closet, not my car.

When we met and were married I came out to her and some of her first words about Stephanie were that they are just clothes and it took off from there as we love a good thrift store .. She helped with measurements on clothing and shoes then we tried on hers and saw I was a bit larger than her so we tried going up sizes to find Stephanies Sizes then Make up and wigs came to play as she has never had much wants for makeup i watched a ton of Videos about it and with a very little help there it was lots of practice to help this girl look some what cute ha ha ..
