I am a trail runner. I’m actually an Ironman too, but that’s another story. I am wanting to try going out for a run dressed en femme, but I have some equipment concerns:
I have a good pocket sports bra, and a couple different breast forms options, so I think I’m good there. Getting a femme tee or tank is easy.
I have short guy-hair, so a wig or a hat with a pony tail would be necessary to pull off the femme look.
Shoes are a non issue. Trail shoes are all mostly drab colors whether mens or womens.
My concern is the shorts/tucking issue. If you are a runner who runs dressed en femme, what do you do? Even looser ladies shorts or a skirt could still show too much if not tucked or concealed somehow. What have you done that works for running?
I have questions about biking too, but might do a separate post for that. O have already been swimming en femme, so I’m good there. I would love to do a triathlon en femme someday. Sorry… got to rambling.
Anyway, amy legitimate tips from your experience running en femme would be appreciated.
Thanks!!
Hi Philma,
I like to walk so the restrictiveness isn’t as needed as the jarring is from running. For security try a snug control panty. That should hold you firmly in place. Over that use a one piece swimsuit with a skort. The skort is looser than many women’s running Shorts. If chaffing is a concern - after all it’s summer and humidity is high - try a pair of thigh length shorts under the skort. The hat can add some color so a good idea.
Some skorts have a zip pocket for your keys.
Have fun.

My first thought is see many runners at races in tutus. With the volume of a tutu it should hide everything.
If you check out Hiedi Phox, she runs en Femme, and has a blog post about it.

You could always tie a light rain jacket/running jacket around your waist.

Thanks Paula! I will check out that blog.
I'm not a runner, but I walk around my neighborhood in a skirt, and have also gone swimming, and have to deal with the same problem.
There are a couple of different ways you can go. When I'm out for a walk, I usually wear a tight pair of panties (usually a thong), and over that a panty girdle. With these two and just pointing your equipment down, I find it keeps away any bulge.
I have heard that some people pop in a sanitary pad in their panties to hide any bulge.
The other option comes from a company called koalaswim.com. They sell a number of styles of g-string panties that can act as a gaff, and also give you a feminine shape down below. It's done by adding an extra piece of elastic vertically down the panties. This has the effect of splitting your package and giving the illusion of feminine equipment down there. It might take a time or two to get used to the g-string "flossing your fanny", but I found it effective enough beneath a one piece bathing suit without a skirt.
Thank you for your reply Allison!
I am already pretty well-versed in tucking snd concealing in a variety of ways when I am dressing for just going out. My question on this topic is intended to be specifically about tucking while running… something like a 5k or longer. I am wondering if anyone else does this, and if they have any advice about comfort and practicality.
Thank you sweetie!! 🥰
Thank you all for the replies!!
Not being well endowed my boys are comfy in bikini bottoms with shorts tank top and cap while running in the park. I bike on an old schwinn girls bike with a skirt
Thanks Deborah!
Not to get too personal, but do you tuck or not on the bike and for your run?
Hi Philma, I went for a trail run last weekend half way through I decided to lose the shirt for awhile and was running in a sports bra. Til I saw a couple coming my way. Quickly putting my shirt back on I passed them and said hi to them and their really big smiles. It was nice though I hope to get braver and wear that skort I have soon.💕💋 Katie
Haven't been able to do any real running for years, but I do a lot of hiking. I never was able to develop a comfortable stride for distance running. I wear a hiking skirt often, which should solve your problem. Besides great ventilation, it makes me feel cute! I have my own breasts that are proud enough that a bra is not always necessary. I have two bikes, a traditional mountain bike, and a girls cruiser. As a youth I often questioned the wisdom of the top bar on a boy's bike when my chain skipped and I landed on the bar. Ouch!
No I dont tuck unless in tights with a top that doesnt cover my boys or in my swimsuit. I bike and run in shorts without a problem without tucking
Philma, I decided to give this a try myself this morning. I don't run long distances anymore, but I did two miles in a running skirt while tucked this morning. It was a cool morning, and of course not that far, so I didn't have any problem. It seemed comfortable enough for short distances. That being said, I think if it were hot and I was sweating and running for longer distances, I'd be concerned about chafing down there, if you know what I mean. But, even without tucking, I would think slightly baggy shorts or skirt would look ok. Good luck!

Thank you Birel!
That’s pretty much what I thought it would be. I also think the fact I run a lot in tri shorts that have a light bike pad, I might get away with it for a decent distance.
Thank you!!
