Good experiences !

Just got my eyebrows done. It’s a risk where I live, but darn it I don’t even leave the house that often anymore. it was a good experience. Besides, the judgey people wouldn’t probably know the difference.

this was the second time I walked into a place and asked for something for myself that men don’t usually do.

First was Ulta. I was standing there impressed with the massive selection. I just happened to be asked if I could be helped by a young man in full makeup. Made asking him easier for a first time. He had to call one of his friends who is a drag performer what they use to hide beard stubble, because he personally doesn’t have facial hair, but otherwise it was a effortless experience. And he knew his stuff

Then today, a locally owned brow place. I made an appointment for this morning. Walked in and was treated very nicely… shortly after a  woman likely in her seventies came in to get hers done, no appointment. Was told 20 minutes…they came to get me for my appointment… and that woman looked at me with total disgust. Only I didn’t see it. My wife did. My wife stared her down and dared her to say something. Apparently she went to complain to the receptionist… who informed her that there were other options in town if she  didn’t like it. I did hear the receptionist say those words. Just didn’t know that I was the topic of conversation…So she sat down trying to avoid the dagger stares from my wife.

Anyway back to me… I got there and I said, “ I would like to feminize my eye brows, make them thinner and less bushy please.” she didn’t blink. Just verified a couple of things, like did I want her to create the arch? Which I did. She treated me very well though the process of threading them. The staff was stellar. I thanked her profusely told her she was a real artist. She thanked me for giving her something different.

I’m finding that so far the businesses who deal with appearance are supportive, while there will be people like that old woman especially in this town… I feel a bit more confident that when I want something, there are stores that are not judging me and are more or less safe.
