Got my ears pierced today

As per the title, I went to a local piercing studio today and got my ears pierced by needle. I had been trying to find clip on earrings that I liked but since I am a fan of long drop earrings, I didn't think clip ons would hold on very well. I found some on Amazon that fitted over the ear which looked quite nice but for some reason Amazon were unable to fulfil the order and gave me my money back and there was nothing else I fancied. There was only one solution and that was as per the title, so off to the local(ish) studio and the deed was done. It was not too painful, a sharp scratch, as they call it, and it was done. Because I have to go about my daily business as a man, I just got some small, black studs which are fairly unobtrusive, indeed, a subsequent visit to the local bar where I occasionally go to meet with acquaintances elicited no obvious response to the earrings, although I have started wearing silver, feminine rings on my fingers and I think that drew a little attention but again, no one commented.

While I was out and about I went into a shop that caters for 'larger' women and was looking for a fake fur coat. I was with my wife and we asked the assistant if they had a certain one in stock, but it turns out they only had it in their online shop but that they would order one in for me to try. She encouraged me to try on another type of coat just to confirm what size I wanted and it was obvious to all concerned that I wanted it so I could dress as a woman (although I wasn't at the time) but she seemed quite unfazed by it all and made suggestions as to arm length, height and style that would suit me. She was delightful.

All in all, a successful day out really.

Becca

@rebeccabaxter Having your ears pierced is such a big special step.  There are so many men that wear them and even wear small hoops.  I even just got a second piercing and now wear 2 earrings in my ears.

@rebeccabaxter Congratulations, Becca. I got mine pierced about a year ago at a piercing studio (my daughter knew someone who worked there. One ear hardly hurt at all, the other one I felt but it wasn't really all that bad. Like you, I had to wear them in guy mode, so I got small titanium balls. My hair covered them up for a few months, and few people either noticed or if the did, say anything about them. Some medical issues caused me to lose some length in my hair so the earrings definitely became more noticable, but few people said anything.

I pretty much wore the starter earrings for about a year, although I did take them out occasionally. They were almost impossible to put on by myself, and even my daughter had difficulties with them. So last month I bought some white gold hoop earrings (about 20 mm), which are definitely more noticable (especially since my hair no longer hides them). But I can take these out and replace them with more feminine earrings, or just replace them later if I need to remove them for medical visits (X-rays or surgical procedures). No one has said anything to me about the change of earrings.

@rebeccabaxter As I alluded to in one of my posts, being 16 in the late seventies allowed me have my ears pierced as it was the norm in the UK - so its a definite plus and you can wear anything. I have always worn an earring in my left ear and so glad the right one is still open after all this time. Never had anyone question why I have pierced ears - once again see, it’s the stuff that we question and feel important that means nothing to anyone else.
Happy days - sure you are glad you had them done xx

Congratulations hon!  Sounds like a wonderful day, really pleased for you 🙂  Ears pierced is on my wishlist too, I like the idea of the black studs, must less obvious than gold ones.

They are fairly unobtrusive, which is what I wanted until such time as I want to put something obvious like drop earrings in -- but that will have to wait for at least six weeks as things need to heal up first. So far, they aren't sore but I suspect that might change a little tomorrow.

Me too.

I went out on Saturday and got my ears peirced.   Small 3mm studs in a dark silvery colour.

My wife had said if I wanted them peirced to go for it.

I for home to, that seems like a big step.  Today I got are you transitioning to a woman.

I love my new earings and can't wait for the 4 week mark when I can change them to suit my mood.

Becca -

Congrats on getting your ears pierced. The visit to the store for the coat sounds like fun too. I got my ears pierced in October and am very happy that I did it. I usually wear studs when I go out but have worn small hoops. I do have dangling earrings that I wear mostly at home but have worn out a couple times.

XOXO

Congrats. I've had mine pierced for quite a while now. I'm thinking about getting another piercing.

You go, girl! I caught a little flack, mostly from my wife, when I got my left ear pierced, many moons ago. I finally got the right one done, a few years later. Again, my wife was upset & asked why. I said, "Because I have two ears." Then, a few years back, I decided to get a second hole in each ear. My wife shook her head & said, "Men don't do that. Only women." Now, my wife occasionally buys me earrings. I wear CZ studs in the second holes, 24/7, & the only comments I ever receive are complimentary ones. Smile

I have thought about making that jump but I know there is a lot of maintenance that goes into keeping them healthy and that is just something that I just don't think I have the mental power to stick with

I think that once they are healed up, there is no maintenance at all apart from the odd change of earring. My wife has multiple ear piercings and doesn't seem to mess about with them at all, she says they just get cleaned when she has a shower.

@rebeccabaxter yeah I think it is like constant changing and keeping them in when you are awake which is something I probably wouldn't keep up on. I am not out so wearing them more often than not wouldn't work great

Very nice and what a great day.  Congrats!

Had mine done about 5 months ago.  Waited about 8 weeks before changing the starter studs out.  Love the variety of styles now, have different size hoops, cz studs, and for Christmas.. a pair of cute candy cane earrings.

Getting my ears pierced is the best thing I have ever done. The week after I retired (10 years ago) we made a trip to the mall and had them done. My wife is so good accepting me as who I am. I do know I have more earrings than my wife lol.

I often think about getting a second set of piercing so I can wear two pair but that might draw unwanted attention from family and friends.

@shelly-lynn that's funny that you say you have more earrings than your wife - it's the same for me - we have agreed to share our earrings - I've been thinking about getting us matching earrings think it would be kind of cute

You are so right matching earrings are so perfect we both love wearing matching diamond stud earrings.  It always makes us feel so much closer as girlfriends much better than husband and wife.

Congrats on the piercings! That is something that is definitely on my wish list. Maybe 2024 will be the year for me…
