Hi Paula,

The short answer as to "why" is "Because we have to". It's a compulsion which can't be denied. Longer answers are more complicated, and are many.
My wife once described my need as "getting in touch with your feminine side", which it certainly does, but doesn't explain the "why". I firmly believe that for most of us, while our bodies were being programmed to develop as male, our brains were somehow programmed to be female. This anomaly has been noted in children as young as 3, and the reverse is also on record. A difficult theory to prove, but in hindsight, it does explain my preferences and development as a child and adolescent (and why I was such a misfit in society).

Hugs,
Lulu

After more than 60 years, I’m convinced that CD is a mystery.  But, then again, our preferences in food, sports, cars, and friends also defy explanation.  I guess if we feel compelled to do something that does not harm others, we should be OK doing it.  I realize that confusion regarding CD often causes anxiety, fear, and even repulsion among friends, family, and primarily significant others.  That is something that needs to be considered.  Nonetheless, if we all learned to accept the harmless idiosyncrasies of those others in our lives, we’d likely be far happier.

Does she really need to "understand" why we cross dress?  Does it really matter?  She supports you, does your nails.  That's a win win.

Many of us still do not after all the years of our dressing know "why" we dress ourselves.  Other than it feel good, we like the look, it may calm us or many other reasons.  Bottom line, it is who we are and what we do.  It will not ever go away. We may have a greater desire some weeks, and less desire other weeks.  But it will always be ingrained in who we are.

Why do I crossdress...

You could also ask me : Why do you breathe ?

Because I need to breathe to survive , to survive I need to Crossdress !

As for me , I have this need since young childhood.

I didn't grow into it , as long as I can remember , it was always there.

I don't know where it came from , but I'm so glad being a Crossdresser , I couldn't imagine my life without it !

I think we are among the people who have the unique ability viewing life from both Gender perpectives. Just a simple question men can ask their women like : Why have you bought another pair of shoes ? You already have so many , and can only wear one pair at a time !

We know , we understand why.

For me it is cristal clear that the Women are the binding factor in this world.

They are stronger than us , can endure pain much better , lift us up when we are down , show us to see things in perspective , show compassion and understanding to others etc.

But I am drifting from the subject now.

Love Sylvia.

Hi Paula, such an interesting dialogue. Simply, I do not cross dress. I dress, as I am now in long skirt, tights, sweater top, light make up, because this is who I am. This is how I dress because it expresses how I feel about being a transwoman. Hope that helps. Hugs, Debbie Lynn
