Hi maybe someone could enlighten on this subject recently I have been told that the female birth control pill taken by a man has a simular effect to het just asking Linda
Hello Linda, and welcome to the forum;
Birth control pills are most often a combination of synthetic forms of both types of female hormones, estrogen and progesterone. So yes they can have the same effect as HRT. That being said none of these should be taken unless under physicians care.
Sincerely;
Lisa
They can have the same effects to some degree. My doctor and I are working out my transition plan now. HRT is really a two part process. Anti androgens to block testosterone and then introducing estrogen to your system. The most common hrt medications are Spironolactone and Estradiol.
Obviously you will not see the same effects using birth control vs these two in combination. It is also not a safe regimen as you likely aren’t going to be under the care of an endocrinologist if your taking birth control pills. The endocrinologist plays a pivotal roll in HRT. You have to make sure your system is taking to HRT correctly and things are transitioning safely.
I assume this isn’t something you would consider but figured I’d share some info with ya!
