My HRT journey has been temporarily delayed due to my hypothyroidism . I had 1 injection after the poor test results, and my dr decided to play it safe and wait till my condition stabilized before continuing
i’ve been on bio-identical armour thyroid for a decade and my results were stable - (sythroid was giving me increased bad side effects for ten yrs prior). Recently my condition has been fluctuating
Anyway, my recent blood test revealed low numbers and have put a temporary halt to HRT,
often times, menopausal women develop hypothyroidism- so I hoped HRT would be helpful.
Any ladies out there with experience/ advise on the subject?
I’ts sad to stop after the excitement of my first injection
May have replied partially, twice.
Thanks for your story.
What side effects did you get from Synthroid; I am on it.
What natural bio=identical do you use?
Thanks for any input. Marlene.
Hello Marlene,
My bad symptoms on synthroid were : Weight gain, lethargy, poor memory, bloated fingers, irritability.
My bio identical medication is Armour Thyroid and it worked well for many years, but lately the strength seems unstable. My thyroid is balanced for now, I feel good and I’ve been able to continue HRT, but my Dr recommends I try switching to synthetic again.
Hi Jennifer,
That's very interesting, though unhappy news for me. I've been on Synthroid, or the generic version for 20 years. It was weight gain and lethargy which found my hypothroidism. My appointment to (hopefully) begin HRT is on Oct 6. I'm really looking forward to it, and I hope this does not prove a barrier for me.
Hugs,
Bettylou
Thanks Jennifer for the feedback.
I have a couple of the symptoms you got, lethargy for one, but no bloating. Getting the hormone balance right is very hard as you and I have found out and needs change with time.
I have not tried the bio-identical, though I have bio-I for testosterone level; low dues to Lyme disease is all I can fathom.
Confounding the problem as you probably know is that TSH and the other blood measurements don't always find the problem or tell you when you are OK. Early morning temperature and how you feel I'm told is better.
And of course it takes weeks for any change in Synthroid to have an effect so it becomes a long procedure.
Hope you find the right balance: Best wishes, Marlene.
