I was in guy mode and visited a local discount store (Ollies) I was looking at some graphic novels. A guy struck up a conversation about which star wars novels have I read which ones I like and he told me what he liked. I said good to have meet you and continued my shopping. While I was shopping I noticed him being around just about every where I went. I thought nothing of it because it happens in stores while I was looking at model kits he asked what cars I like (Mustangs, pony cars, and muscle cars) and kits I like to work. He showed me where some star wars kits was. I found a big canvas print of Superman and I had to have cause I am a Superman fan. While I was in line he was in front of me asked if I seen the other Superman print I said yea I like this one the best. He said I like yours also as i was getting in my car I thought he was frendly just keept chatting me up.........It just then hit me like a ton of bricks. Son of a biscuit Eater!!! He was hitting on me. Im straight but oh well it happens props to him for shooting his shot.

Maybe you hadn't cleaned your makeup off as well as you thought.

I'm straight too, but I've been accused of being gay several times.

("Accused?" Sorry, very poor choice of words. It's not a crime any more.)

I've also been pegged as CD even when there was no possible way the person concerned could know.

Maybe some of us just raise a slight ping on Gaydar? Maybe some of us aren't as blokey as we think we are, letting slip some femme mannerism every now and then?

I'm a karaoke enthusiast.  Mind you, the venues where these event occurred were not designated or reputed as gay hangouts.  On more than one occasion, I've been chatted up by gay men, presumably because I set off their GAYDAR.  One even went so far as to buy me a drink, and then proceeded to massage my shoulders.  I beat a hasty retreat on all these occasions.

Perhaps the pink cloud triggers false positives.

Now, there was one time when I was genuinely flattered by a man buying me a drink.  He appreciated my singing, and offered the drink as payment to sing a romantic standard or two while he was making the moves on a lady.  That was fun.

Sometimes, I stop short of removing every last bit of eyeliner when switching back to drab.  It just looks so nice!

I had a similar thing happen to me in a magazine shop, many years ago; and back when I went to bars, I've been asked more that once "Are you gay?" I'm not, and could never understand why I was thought to be, until CDH led me to understand that I'm really a girl, inside.

Hi Brandie,

Rare, maybe not as rare as all that. I'm not gay, but in my much younger days I was hit on like that a few times. Never threatening. Something about me I guess. Sometimes I got a free drink in the process (yep, a bit naughty).
