Yes, I know.....
Absolutely ridiculous post, but after all, it did say on the top of the forum, " life as it goes on".....
Well yesterday, one of the hinges on my toilet seat sheared off!!, I was just sitting there doing my minding my business, reached for the loo paper and...wwwwoooww, I did the sideways shuffle!??. as I passed the hand basin and slid towards the door, I thought...no, can't be an earthquake...not in Somerset!!!
...now I don't know if this has ever happened to you, but the moment you don't have a toilet seat, it becomes quickly apparent how damn cold that porcelain is to sit on... yikes.
Grace had to visit the local Wilko's ( general store ), but.......
I got a beautiful new seat that " slowly closes",on it's own, when you let the lid down.....now the only problem is, every time I pass the bathroom, i lift it and let it slowly fall.....oh gosh,.....sod off covid, I SO need to get out more!!!!

Essential, I know and the novelty factor of the gently closing seat... I may have to get one, if only for the entertainment value.

Grace, I had a similar thing happen to me about 3 or 4 weeks before Christmas. As I'm not going out, I went to my "go to" general store of Amazon. Next day I had a lovely soft close seat to 'enjoy'.
The original seat was the one that came with the house so not soft close and very quickly started slamming the other toilet seats in the house forgetting they were not soft close. About 2 weeks later, I ordered enough seats for the rest of the house and not looked back.
SO now I have soft close everything....Kitchen cupboards and drawers, toilet seats. Life is good hehe.

Now first yes It has happened to me. Two, I too bought a "soft close toilet seat" Being silly granddad I showed my granddaughter my new magical trick of being able to command the toilet seat to close. Apparently she now try this on every toilet seat she comes across, occasionally finding one that's works when she says the magic words "seat seat down". Apparently her parents have bought two new toilet seats because she got upset at home that her magic spell never seemed to work on their toilets. I suppose one day she will work it out. Anyway Grace what colour, and type?, plastic, wood, resin. xx

How could you not have had soft closing toilet seats! We have had them in NZ for years! No more crashing and dropping of seats during the night!
Soft close drawers in the kitchen and bathrooms too! Oh, yes... we have all the luxuries. Gone are the days of wooden seats that split at the particular place and nip, painfully at one’s nether regions upon sitting down... we all sit down, don’t we?

Oh yes, I must get one!
Imagine the dash in, after a long drive, and the seat automatically raises itself as you enter the bathroom, accompanied, perhaps, by a subtle gust of your favourite perfume, and some soothing music.
Other functions could be automated too - perhaps an automatic bidet function with blow dry and talc?
Perhaps an attachment that makes you a cocktail, or projects the news onto a screen in front of you.
That will consign newspapers directly their original secondary function - when will the local shops sort out the toilet paper issue?

crashing toilet seats were designed so that wives could tell when their husbands eventually got home from the pub....
I have always tried to get soft, close drawers...mainly in cerise, definitely lacy!!!
