2 Sundays a month, I go to church, lunch, and then a movie. All fairly safe venues; allowing me to revel in my femininity. But-after the movie's over, I'm just not ready for my day en femme to be over. So I've discovered an activity that prolongs the day, and is relatively safe (It's the real world, after all-there are no guarantees 😐). It's not terribly exciting, either-but it is what it is. I live in a large metropolitan area (Chicago) with multiple commuter railroad lines; many of which operate on weekends (and for a bargain "unlimited weekend pass" rate). So I check the schedule, pick a station, park my car (free on weekends), buy my pass using my phone app, and wait on the platform. About an hour ride downtown; brisk walk over to the next platform, and back out again. Train's never crowded, and everybody's in "elevator mode"-not looking at or talking to anybody else. So you're alone with your thoughts (or you could bring your earbuds) and the urban/suburban scenery. And IF "something" were to happen, the conductor is committed to having your back. Then there's the poster on the wall of the coach, advising 5 years in prison for assaulting crew/passengers. That said, you'd be wanting to put on your feminine thinking cap, and consider the relative safety of each line; some would not lend themselves to this, especially the city bus/rapid transit system. SO: if you'd like to "get out there", and live in the 'burbs with rail service, this might be an "avenue" (no pun intended) you hadn't considered. Also, if you're not accustomed to being in public, you might be a little anxious? This gives you ample opportunity to "chill"/acclimate/get used to and enjoy your "altered existence" 😉 😍 PS-Newer coaches (one or more per trainset) have roomy unisex restrooms-awkward when in motion, but welcome ease while waiting to leave downtown PPS-this would also apply to Amtrak/Intercity service, but would require more and riskier schedule issues
In Ontario, we have GO Transit as our regional bus / train service. My wife and I frequently travel to Niagara Falls, which takes 2 hours. Although I am usually dressed ambiguously, I also wear appropriate breast forms (to not annoy SO #1).
Nothing ever happens or is said about me. In fact, I had to travel there on my own, last week, and sat beside a young German tourist for a few hours. She never said a word about my nail polish.
It's cool to do this.
I agree Kendra it is a safe and peaceful way to travel around the city. I have done it quite often and like you say everyone is on their phones ignoring their surroundings.
Lovely idea to extend the day Kendra. You certainly planned it all well too accommodating your safety and comfort.
Hello Kendra,
I agree, especially in cities like Chicago with an extensive public transportation system, I live in Los Angeles County and our light train system is infant compared to other cities, but I have taken it from the suburbs to DTLA and Long Beach, great fun to spend half of day or even an entire day.
It definitely is a great way to build confidence in being out in the world without a lot of direct interaction with people. I can see it as being a good gauge of how well you blend in with other women.
I would love to go out but want to go all the way out and see what I have been missing by not being with another guy
