Hi Kate, thanks for the run-down. Sammi has suffered an ischemic kind of stroke, no bleeding involved, just clotting. She had a brain scan, but interestingly they found no evidence of clotting, but the consultant did say that although the scan picked nothing up, this does not mean that a stroke has not occured. I know a little medicine, but i am by no means an expert!! the signs she showed were undeniably symptoms of a stroke and i acted with speed. Her blood sugars have been all over the place recently and i feel her insulin which she takes (Lantus which is long acting) and (Epidra which is short acting) is becoming ineffective, of course thats for the doctors to decide, not me! Sammi does have other issues too such as chronic asthma and also ceoliacs disease (gluten intolerance).
I will certainly keep you all in the picture regarding any new developments, but i do not want to spread any negativity here because i am not the only one here that has issues. I spread the love and happiness to you all, keep well and fulfilled in your lives, enjoy your journeys, each and every one of you to the best of your ability, no matter how trivial or small.
I want to personally say thanks to you all (with a tear in my eye) for all your replies to date, we are such a supportive community and that is an amazing quality for all of you to have, keep your heads held high, knowing that all of you are the best people on the planet 🙂 Bye bye for now, i shall keep popping in ocasionally, circumstances prevailing. 🙂
Huge hugs and too many kisses to mention
Fiona xxxx
Dear Fiona
I am so sorry to hear your news, I do hope you wife fully recovers in time. It must have been a huge shock for you, but hopefully everything is going in the right direction. Don't forget to look after yourself, it's all too easy to keep running around doing Dad stuff, visiting hospital etc, make sure you have a bit of time for yourself. You will need to be strong over the coming weeks and months so make sure you look after yourself. I wish you, your wife and family the very best for the future. Oh and Happy Birthday!
