Hi girls,
Do you consider crossdressing a Hobby?
During My discussion about crossdressing being a possible addiction the term Hobby came up .
I must say I dont consider this a hobby to myself.
I feel my feminine side is a part of who I am and more than just a hobby.
Yes its part time due to my already building a wonderful life as a man and having to try to balance these lifestyles.
I would love to hear you girls take on the hobby angle?
Patty
I would say my dressing can be a hobby. It's been a lifelong hobby where I have done nutty and silly things in pursuit of feeling the femme experience.
Patty...
It's my chosen way of life....
Okay, so it just happens to involve glue ( eyelashes ), crayons and paint ( make up ), collections ( clothes and shoes ) and lots of modelling ( new outfits ).....but it's so much more than a hobby to me.
Smiles, grace xx
Hi Patty!
Speaking just for myself, I do not see this as a hobby at all. It is more a part of who I am than an "interest". My board gaming is a hobby. My study of history... my love of music - those are my hobbies. Interesting distractions from the grind of life. They are enjoyable and give me happiness for sure, but I would still feel "complete" and myself without them. It's on a whole other level than a hobby for me. ❤

I've seen the word used as a put down against CD's. Hobby as being something done without being serious, just playing around. I'm sure there are some on the spectrum who this description fits but I've never considered my habits as just a hobby. Even though I don't intend on transitioning my love of all feminine things is a driving force within me, not a fetish diversion on an afternoon.
Hi Patty,
No, definitely not a hobby. For a long time in my life I have to admit, there was an attitude of irritation at myself for 'indulging' in this thing. I've only quite recently let go of that attitude.

Hi Patty!
Shopping for the right outfit is a wonderful hobby. But, once it's all on, I get this tingling personality and state-of-mind change that Barb comes to life and becomes the real me. If I could, I'd be elegantly en femme 24/7, unless I had to cut a few dead branches with my reciprocating saw. Love that thing! Ya know, doing that dressed to the nines would look kinda dangerously cool!

Hi, Patty.
My answer is no, this whole experience, has become my lifestyle. I am always at least underdressed, my body hair is gone, my brows plucked, my ears pierced, when home I am fully Regine, there is nothing hobby-ish about the choices, and changes, I have made.
I have become, me.
Hugs, Regi👸💖
No it isn't a hobby to me but I can understand why it could be perceived as such.
How many partners say I don't know what he sees in it, I don't understand it, he spends lots of time and money on it but it keeps him happy so I put up with it. Now from someone looking in that is a description of a hobbyist. Then there are those partners saying that it has become an addiction and don't like it. That leads to some form of confrontation. Give it up or I leave or you have to cut back. Sound familiar?
It doesn't matter what the hobby is, white water kayaking, Hunting, Cars and the list goes on. So it is easy to see how what we do is defined as a 'Hobby'.
A lot of girls here realise that they can't progress from occasional dressing and are satisfied to do that and that is 'their time' - like a hobby. Partner. friends and family content.
From our side it is a bit more complex and I can understand why we should take umbrage. If a partner or friend is happy to term it as a hobby which they support then it is an easy way to accept and deal with it and, maybe, the complex issues will come after the first hurdle is jumped.
In my path to where I am today any one who accepted me could define what I did any way they wanted as long as they were comfortable with it and they kept along side me.
I am pretty sure I used that wording in your post. And I believe that I contemplated using quotation marks to show alternate meaning. Not sure if I did. Basically, I was not about to define this aspect of our lives for others. I have used the word "hobby" in more than a few posts for this reason. That's why I think it was me but it may have not been.
For me it's a part of who I am, and has been for a long time. But it doesn't define me. I control it to a degree although I don't shut it down like I have in the past.
Trisha
I think it might be a fun hobby for some as well but for me it is who I am now and adore the lifestyle. I am in girl mode 60% of the time
Kinda yes. The makeup side of things is an artistic hobby. One where I practice and strive for an effect.
Started out as my parents use to call it a phase then it moved from phase to hobby now its more of a real lifestyle change for what wanting all my life. Just got through with one hurdle of fem facial surgery. Now next month be bottom surgery. Going all the way to being a transwoman. as society calls it. Me think more of a woman. More happy as a female.

Hi Trisha ,
Im not sure who it was either and I was hoping I didn't offend any one with the post.
I know we all have different situations and views about our dressing.
I guess I would use that term loosely only because I cant be patty full time.
But as with you it is a part of me and there is no hobby to it unless you count as other girls have maybe make up or various parts of our life style like collecting shoes.
