I sometimes wonder how genuine the fears are. I think a segment of the population just wants to sanitize the world of anything unusual within their own experience. And then there are those who hype differences, villainize, and vilify anyone of whom they disapprove. Richard Beck’s book, Stranger God, talks about how we distance ourselves from those outside our narrow circles. Great read!

I can totally relate... and while the views of the uneducated few always seem to become an inconvenience for others, the uneducated narrow minded ones always seem to want their opinions to be the Law-of-the-Land, so to speak. It is unfortunate that these are the one's who do nothing more than promote hate thru mis-information that stems from their apparent lack of respect towards anyone else but themselves.

Wow, gosh, I don't know what I'd have done. I can only hope I would've done as well as you. I've not yet had an experience that was off putting or frightening, and I pray it stays that way.
