Thomas Jane is one of my favorite actors. I’ve been catching up on his comedy series “Hung” on Max (recently changed from HBOMax). Jane plays Ray Drecker, a high school teacher who starts working as a gigolo p.
In a recent two-episode arc Ray takes on a client named Kyla who turns out to be trans. Being a decent guy, Ray ends up overcoming his initial averse reaction and treats Kyla with the consideration we all deserve. It’s fiction but a definite bright spot and positive messaging.
Ray: When you’re young you get all worked up about what people think of you. But that’s the good thing about getting older. You realize, “F—- that. It’s what you think of yourself.”
Trans actor Jami Clayton give a very notable performance as Kyla, her first credited role on IMDb.
I remember seeing the first few episodes a while back. Interesting premise, but then the free period for HBO expired. Ran out of time to bone up on that one…
