Well a mothers giving birth can not only create a beautiful life but can now give someone a knees up too.
New trials from human donated umbilical cords discarded after birth could help worn out joint by extracting the jelly from these cords and injecting it into the joints. It's hope the injection will stimulate new cartllage growth in the knees of patients with osteoarthritis. Test on animals suggests the jelly called "Wharton's jelly" may reverse damage to joints with this condition.
Amazing.

Jelly from the umbilical chord! Euuu! I'll have to look carefully at the ingredients list on the pack next time.
I know that as a kid Mum would say that jelly was good for the nails and for good skin. After years of jelly eating I have very strong nails but skin condition could be better.
The original jelly contains gelatine derived from animals and has protein in it. Other conditions it is believed to be good for is bone and joints so it comes as no surprise that umbilical jelly has some benefit in those areas.
It is not common these days, as in the past we used to suck the jelly from the bones and now posh restaurants would cook up slices of jelly from beef bones which was something the poor did to get nutrition. Boiling up the meat and fish bones to get gelatine or saving the fat to have dripping for our sandwiches. The thing was that we didn't have the choice nor money to buy in excess. It was rare to see any one overweight or morbidly obese. Funny that.
