Hello everyone. Here's a question for you all. Has anybody here tried wearing a jumpsuit? I finally managed to find one that fits, but boy are they hard work to get in and out of, and when the bathroom calls, well....... It's a nightmare! What possesses women to wear them? Obviously they are a womens fashion idea devised by misogynist men!
Yes, they do look kinda sexy and mine feels really nice, but really, they are so impractical. I'd like to know your thoughts.
Hi Fiona,
A great question! I love wearing jumpsuits too. But reaching the button in back isn’t very easy as your flexibility diminishes with age. Here’s a couple of thoughts:
A sleeveless jumpsuit doesn’t have the button and loop (or perhaps a zipper). Pair with a cute leotard or cowlneck top for a burst of color. The sleeves cover your arms too.
Wear your jumpsuit backwards. It sounds silly but it works! You can reach the closure much easier when it’s in front.

Thanks Alice, I will bear tour tips in mind.
Mine doesn't actually have any fastenings, it has sleeves and it just slips on/off but of course I have male shoulders which makes life more difficult. Also, how do you keep control of all the material from the sleeves and bodice while stopping the hemline dropping to the floor in a public loo? I don't seem to have enough hands!
I had a romper once, much like a jump suit but knee length. Yes, it was very impractical so after a couple of days use, it went to goodwill.
They do look cute on the right body. Mine is not one of them. Luv Stephanie
That's harsh Bobbi. I do like how mine looks and feels.
I think they were created by the same person who created blouses that button up the back
Back in the day (mid-70’s) I had 3 or 4 men’s jumpsuits. I liked them but eventually I gained some weight and by that time they were out of style and impossible to find.
The one in the photo was one of my early purchases when I started dressing. It has a front zipper and fits very well. I think the problem that some have in putting them on is due to the length from the shoulders down to the crotch. Men’s jumpsuits would be longer than women’s as the length is proportioned differently (women tend to have shorter torsos and longer legs). A jumpsuit that is for Tall women is likely a better bet. Also, I suspect that mine was intended to be a bit oversized and that would be a plus in terms of the shoulder to crotch measurement. While it took a bit of wiggling to get into it, it wasn’t bad even considering that I have arthritis and my flexibility is clearly something less than 100%.
In recent times I have been looking for another, but there are complications. Back zippers and buttons are out and I don’t like mid-calf lengths and definitely not ones that are flared at the mid-calf. So far it has been hard to find one that doesn’t have all of those features.
I have a playsuit that just means it has shorts rather than full length legs. It is easy to put on and very feminine, I can wear it in man mode with a fleecy top and nobody notices.
Hi Fiona, I have a couple of jumpsuits which I love but yes they are a pain especially as you say when nature calls. I used to have one years ago and the zipper was in the front and went right around the crotch, that one was great and very sexy. That was in the late 70's early 80's back when I was young and skinny out hitting the clubs. Ah the good old days.
<p style="text-align: left;">So girls,</p>
Are jumpsuits coming back in style?
I haven't seen many women wearing them.
I have never tried one but I always thought they looked adorable on the right figure.

Yes I forgot to say peeing is a problem as I have to undo the button behind the neck and slide the whole suit down, cramped if you are in a cubicle lol.
Just did a search on the Macy’s web site for “women jumpsuit” and 698 results came up. If an appropriate size could be found, the
NY Collection
Petite Surplice Belted Wide-Leg Jumpsuit
would be a possibility, given what I like and don’t like. Note that it is listed as “pull-on styling”, so it has no buttons or zippers, and it is a polyester/spandex blend.
Should be good to squeeze into lol.
