Good afternoon ladies.....
from a wet and a very much cooler England.
Reading Holly Goodrich's post on chain v goodwill, i decided to take a look around town today. It's very wet so I decided to dress appropriately. Leopard print blouse, black pencil skirt, black tights and leopard print ankle boots. Black parka and my red umbrella, blonde/ brown bob wig....and no sunglasses.!!!!
I wore a mask as most shops here still prefer it.
Well it didn't take too long to get my purse open!!!....I'm amazed at the quality and astounded that people actually give this stuff away in the first place. I had a fantastic couple of hours, and the town was very quiet, being a wet Monday sure helped. I could have spent a small fortune quite easily ( I sure will be glad when Holly's cheque clears!!! ). but I got some amazing bargains....
a strappy summer multi colour top, two beautiful mini skirts, one flowery, one black, a red and black t- shirt dress and a pack of 4...yes 4 ( it wasn't even opened !!! ) Thick belts...With large round buckles in red, white, black and brown....and the whole lot cost me £28.99....
absolute madness...
What made it even better???..served by lovely " older " ladies in each shop, chatted about the weather and my bargains....they were just so sweet and polite...did they make me???...who knows....and who really cares....I don't!!!
I even stopped at Costas and had a coffee before returning home. Sat there, on my phone to CDH...feeling wonderful, how good does it get???...
I'm so pleased, that i'm going to have a fashion show tonight, and I might even go for another stroll afterwards wearing some of my bargains....
Every so often, I just get these moments when I think.... isn't it great when you don't give a damn!!!!
They do say charity begins at home...but isn't it nice when some of it ends up there!!!!😂😂😂
Grace 💓💓
EDIT......OMG OMG OMG....
I totally forgot....the second shop i was in, two guys looking through the women's tops, and to be honest, they didn't seem bothered at all...
cheapskates buying presents for their wives???....yeah right.......nudge nudge, wink, wink!!!
...but they ignored me....and I ignored them....happy days xx
Exactly what I've just been writing about to Holly Grace sweetie. Well obviously Miss T-Pot in panties has beaten Burton to the shops ☹️.
Well I hope the mirror lies, meeeowww. 😂😂😂
"I don't really"
❤️Amanda xx
Thrift stores are a great inexpensive place to learn about what fits and what doesn't. I've gotten many items from there and just return what doesn't work. I've found some great items too and some vintage things.
I've found vintage foundation girdles and such that aren't made anymore. I have a beautiful long Jackie O winter coat that fits me perfectly and an expensive womens leather coat that I love and wear often in the winter. Its all priced cheap! Last visit I got some jewelry and two swimsuits for next to nothing. Its always a mystery what one will find but I always find something.
The only thing about buying used clothes is that you have to inspect it very carefully because someone may have gotten rid of it because of a stain or tear so beware it may be damaged. And of course wash everything before wearing it.
Happy shopping girls!
Hi Grace I am happy you are getting a break from the awful heat signs of things to come. The out fit sounds adorable. The red umbrella is a great finishing touch. It is amazing how much people donate, some even have original tags!! I always wonder who the other cross dressers are in town when I see size 14 -4 inch stiletto's in the shoe section. I believe we have a bag going out every month with all the people in my home.My wife decided she was finally going to clean out my closet. She got rid of all the cloths she felt was inappropriate for me to wear. My whole collection of cute shorts went into the bag some still had tags!! My middle aged daughter popped in last week wearing what i believe was a pair of my shorts. I confirmed by asking wife you delivered donation bag to local church. I rather like the feeling getting outed by accepting mature woman. They have seen it all and fun to chat with. That feeling of not giving a dam is coming to often these days. My wife is starting to monitor what I wear when i go shopping She just does not want me to look stupid her word not mine. It is nice to be loved. Sounds like you had a lovely day Enjoy the fashion show.

Stephanie ...
I do see quite a lot of " large" pairs of heels on my travels around charity shops ..it does make you wonder.
The thought of your daughter coming over wearing your confiscated shorts is a scream....xx
Michelle....
love your bargain buys, and yes, you do need to check carefully.
A bargains not a bargain otherwise....
and mine???...washed already and drying as I write this xx
In my early days I would trawl the charity shops/thrift stores and get some real bargains. I now shop in the mainstream stores and the sale rails are a little gem. You can get brand new for the price of a charity shop dress these days. A few days ago I went to shop for a few food items and was drawn to the clothes and ended up buying a lovely dress on sale at half price. Did I really need it? No. Did I want it? Yes.....
Hi Grace,
Great bargains for you on a rainy afternoon. And in your size too! Enjoy the walk around later in the day.
Alice

Dear Grace,
I’ve only been shopping at one of our local thrift stores one time, but I bought two beautiful cocktail dresses (unfortunately one of them didn’t fit at all 😢) two blouses, a skirt, and two kitchen knives. The knives have nothing to do with my cross dressing, they were just in bad shape and worse shape, and I want to refurbish and improve their looks, smooth out the rough patches (maybe there is a connection to my cross dressing after all) and make them more beautiful than ever. All told, I spent about $40. I’ll be going back, that’s for sure!
Hugs, Jill
I love thrift stores. Racks and racks of stuff and no one paying attention to you at all.
You can get so much cool stuff for cheap.
going to our local thrift shop wednesday always having half price sale for seniors hehe
Hello Grace,
I also shop charity stores. The one thing I notice is, clothes in my size are not available. One place I went to the sizes ended at 16. I won't tell you what size I take, but it is above a 16.
At another place, the gal behind the counter gave me an over 55 discount. The skirts I got fit just fine.
Sounds like a lovely day out, Grace! At one time I wouldn't have wondered about men shopping in women's sections, but now, you bet it gets my "spidey sense" going!
Amy
I think that is a very noble goal, Steph. Just try not to look stupid. I’m on board.
