Hello Ladies,
Today I went to Spruce Grove again, this time throwing caution to the wind when I came out of the house. There was no-one around though at that time of the day.
I went to the Winners store, but only bought a set of wooden coat hangars. Then I went over to the 'State and Main' restaurant, however, it was mid-day and I would have had to have waited for a table. I decided that instead of waiting there I would go to the other part of town to 'Value Village', one of a chain of thrift stores. I had not been into this store enfemme (which just feels like normal now) before, however, all the staff know me by sight from my very frequent visits.
The night before I had phoned and asked them to change my name and update my phone number on my points membership.
The reception I had was pretty much the same as the reception I always get, a welcome smile, offer of the use of the hand sanitizer and a shopping basket.
I looked in the books section to see if they had anything really valuable, like the first edition, first print of 'Casino Royale', then I looked to see if they had any nice teapots or other nice pottery.
After that I went over to the women's section and found a really nice wine red short skirt and a long sleeve top, which I don't know how to describe but it is really smart. At this time though I don't have a top to go with the skirt, nor a bottom to go with the top. 🙂
When I was paying for the items, the young lady asked me for my phone number, looked up my account, said, "Aurora?" which wasn't really a question. I said yes and she asked me if I wanted to use any of the points.
After my visit to Value Village I went to the 'State and Main' again.
There are two other restaurants where I am well known, one in particular that I have frequented for years. Either one of them would, on the surface, seem like a bit of a challenge to go as Aurora but really, going by the events of the past two weeks I would say that they would more likely congratulate me and compliment my outfit.
I do think that in Spruce Grove I can do everything that I normally do as Aurora... which is now, more or less, the way that I live. 🙂
When I returned home, I stopped off to walk some woodland trails about two miles from home. It felt so good to walk through the woods with a soft breeze blowing through my hair.
After the walk, I drove back to the house and, just as I drove up the driveway, the librarian at the school on the opposite side of the road came out to sit at one of the picnic tables. I don't know if this was coincidence or not, but the same thing happened yesterday.
Anyway, I shouldered my shoulder bag, picked up my parcel, got out of the car and walked along the path and came into the house. Then I walked back to the car to bring in another bag.
I feel so really good that I can dress the way that I want to and go about my business without any negative comments.
I do have to learn more about how to match outfits though.
An idea I have is to have clothing that, no matter how you mix and match it, I always come out with a nice outfit.
I don't know if that is possible.
Thank You All For Listening. 🙂

Well done Aurora! You are amazing!
Love and hugs, Stephanie 💖
Thanks Stephanie,
I don't know how I would do this without the support of yourself and all the other wonderful ladies in the CDH community. 🙂
More than welcome Aurora! You keep "going about your business"!
Hugs, Stephanie 💖
Aurora, setting up your wardrobe for mix-and-match or ready made ensembles is fairly easy to do, but can be a long process at the same time.
About 1/3 of my clothing articles is set up this way, and I continually work to make as many outfits as I can put together, then hang them together by season, then color and material.
Pieces that don't fit a particular place and I am working to find complimentary matches for are photographed on my phone so as I clothes shop, i have ready and easy access to see them without having to rely on memory. I usually only have 5 or 6 pieces at a time on the file, but allows me to concentrate on the ones I choose to.

Aurora.
Lovely story....
You may be " just going about your business"...but....
a GG going out is "everyday ", a CD going out is SO very different!!!!
and while it's great for you, it's boosting so many others. The site needs stories like yours, and what you are doing is wonderful.

What a lovely experience. No fuss no bother. A milestone in any girls journey is when you can just go to the wardrobe and pick something out at will and it works. The confidence in being able to be relaxed in yourself so you are less thinking about what others, or yourself, are thinking to enjoy the experience of just going about your business. Wonderful.
Hi Paula,
Thank you for the tips, I'm sure they will come in very helpful.
I don't have much in my wardrobe at this time, but the first thing I am going to do is to photograph everything that I have got.
It is a dull rainy day today and it is Saturday, so a good day to stay home, catch up with my housework and avoid the Saturday crowds. I think that a good walk on the trails will be in order later on this afternoon though. I will wear a skirt outfit but something I do need is a suitable coat.
Thanks Again,
Aurora
I'm so happy for you, each trip out is a confidence boost, and makes you feel good. Yes, it can approach "just normal", but when the way you truly want to be becomes "normal", then you've truly achieved something positive.
As to wardrobe mix n match, I know it's achievable, but my colors wander to far apart to be able to just grab anything and have it work, though there's a lot of freedom within certain limits. Cookouts, or textures, or prints, etc. I don't have a bunch of stuff yet, but I'd guess about 1/4-1/3 works together. The idea of having a photo file to go from i think is genius.

Photo file for matching? Genius!
