Hi Gurls!
Had a quick minute this morning and no one else to share this with!
Over the last 4 weeks I've come across 3 CD's out in public, walking about, dining out, etc,. it is quite encouraging.
Well this past Sunday was the 4th time. My son and I were at a local grocery store and for one, I saw one of the biggest human beings I'd ever seen. He was easily 6'10" or so, quite possibly more. Big, not fat, just a very big frame. He was pushing a shopping cart with a small girl, obviously his daughter, as she was calling him "dad". The remarkably thing about him was, he was wearing capri pant, a (very big) blouse), and womens booties (short boots), which made him a little taller.
His hair was long, and when he was speaking to his daughter it was in forced, female sounding voice. The real remarkable thing about him/her, was how unkempt he looked. Her clothes, including her booties, were really (sorry to say) dirty. Her hair was pretty long, but not groomed in anyway. Kind of a mess.
In some respects I was glad to see "him" out and dressed, but he was not doing himself/herself any favors. The attention this person drew based solely on his physical size was obvious, but to be dressed on top of it and not very cleanly, only seemed to make matters worse for him/her. People were obviously put off on a number of levels.
Hope I'm not sounding too judgemental.
Love and hugs, and respect always,
Rebekka
I really, really feel for her. Any time I think of my troubles, I always try to remember ladies like this who are out there having an even tougher go at it. It's a struggle for so many people all over the world. I know that she would have chosen a different life if she could have.
I never see CD's out in public with the exception of Femme Fever evens. Maybe they are all around me and I just don't notice them.
You know Stacy, I was feeling the same thing, many things. It's hard enough being a really tall person and attracting attention just for that, let alone anything else.
She is courageous however!
Thanks Rebekka for sharing,
It sounds like it may be real hard for her.
But give her credit she out doing it and with the support of her daughter.
I am proud for her.
Its gotta be tough not wanting to stand out when you are that tall.
Patty
Hi Rebekka, nice post!! i feel there are two ways of looking at this, personally from my point of view (and not wanting to sound over judgemental), i feel its important to look good when dressed up, you dont want to spoil the image by just throwing on any old clothes and not looking after your hair, personal appearance is paramount! but on the other hand, she probably dresses 24-7 so her look is a day to day basis, rather than many of us doing a week to week or even month to month, where undoubtly, we will put more effort in. Despite what i have just said, i have upmost respect for her because unlike scaredy cat me, she has had the bottle to get out there and show herself to the world, what a remarkable lady!!

Hi Rebekah,
Thanks for the post. I admire the lady, what courage to go out where you will clearly attract attention. I have a lot of admiration for people who express themselves how they want to, the sort of ‘stuff it’ (polite version),yet like Fiona I am too much of a scaredy cat to follow this mantra myself.
I probably see lots of CDs each week but either I am not that observant of they are that convincing they blend into society. I did see a young CD a few weeks back in the cafe of a local department store. She was sat with a group of women having a coffee. She was nicely dressed, fashionable dress and boots but her voice clearly gave her away. I did note some adverse reaction from a group of older people, muttering and funny looks, but most people either didn’t notice or carried on regardless. The young girl didn’t seemed phased by the looks and was clearly enjoying her chat with friends.

Well said (as always), Fiona!
Love and Hugs,
