With the onset of winter comes a drop in humidity.  A home's lower humidity contributes to a feeling of being constantly cold.  I have found it frustrating to wake up in a beautiful flowing nightgown of satin, or of lace, wanting to spend some luxury time with my coffee, only to be forced to throw on a thick velvet bathrobe that covers everything all up!

Last week I spent a few hours online sorting out bridal-style robes, and yesterday my packages came!  Two new bras, a larger set of forms, stockings, and a proper robe.   Once again, I was lucky - with a mid-length wrap in white satin, with draping floral lace sleeves that come perfectly to my wrists.  Not too short.  Not too long. It has not only a matching belt, but also an inside tie. And over my white all-lace gown this morning, it is divine.  With every movement the fabrics slide in a perfect feminine affirming way.

And it's WARM!!  I had hoped it would work out like this, that two layers of lace & satin would do the trick.  The winter life is looking good for this happy girl.

As winter sets in here in Cornwall, a bit of lower humidity would come as a pleasant change. It is always wet here. It snows once every four or five years (and I am up in the hills). Most winters, the temperature rarely drops below 0C. As I sit here now, at 11pm, the temperature is 11.5C and we have had 10mm of rain in the last three hours; this is a pattern that will probably be repeated every other day until April next year. I don't need cosy PJs or thick dressing gowns, I need webbed feet! Smile Laugh

@annaredhead We have a multi-fuel stove that burns anthracite, it is on 24 hours a day. We are never cold in the house even though it is the only source of heat (no radiators). It's expensive per bag but for 24 hour heating, I think it works out pretty cheap compared with gas or electricity which one has to turn on and off.

@rebeccabaxter the back wall of our house is glass, even with good double glazing and thick curtains it gets cold in the lounge

Oh yes it's incredible Dani, great to meet another lingerie girl on here!! I have gorgeous bridal/wedding night style lingerie to wear to bed and what makes it even better in my case is having a boyfriend to wear it for and snuggle with under the covers.
