Been looking at the corsets seen many styles was curious which is a good type for a single person to put on and take off. Just wondering if any of the ladies here wear them or worn them

I have the same question in my mind. Waiting for more feedback from the sisters here.
Because of differences in body shape, you may want to get a corset from a place specializing in crossdressers (men have longer torsos than women). I have worn underbust corsets on occasions.
It is not terribly difficult to put on by yourself. But if you tie off the laces in the back, make sure you are good at opening knots without looking at them. Should the strings knot up in the back, you won't be able to turn the corset around to see the knot to untie it. Because of this, some people tie the string around the waist and put the final knot in front.
To put it on, make sure it is very loose. Wrap it around you and fasten the busk, then adjust the corset to the right position and make sure the modesty panel (the part under the laces) is smooth.
My method is to alternate pulling on the top laces and the bottom laces until it is snug. Until it starts fitting snug you can still adjust things, but once it starts getting tight it's not going to move much.
To get the corset tighter, I usually use the "chicken wing" approach, as it uses strong core muscles. I grab the top laces right at the corset. I slide my hands forward close to my body, with the string over the elbows, and the elbows sliding up to my side. When I have this with a little tension, I push my elbows forward (like chicken wings) and move my hands back to my side. Then I'll do the same with the bottom laces, alternating.
Some other things you can do is use an ice skating skate key (an iron triangle bending into a stem with a hook on the end) to try to pull the laces from the top (or bottom) towards the center. Some people use a doorknob to pull the laces. There are videos on how to self-lace a corset.
You want to tighten it until it feels comfortably snug against your body; don't try to overdo it. You will find after you wear it a few minutes (maybe half an hour or so), some of the loose slack in the laces will have shifted. You should be able to tighten it a bit more taking up the slack.
When you finish it off, tie a simple overhand knot. Then, if you are going to knot it in the back, make a bow and pull the laces out; you want the loops and the bow about the same length. I tuck the extra string up into the bottom back of the corset so you can sit on a toilet without worrying the laces will dip into the water. If you are going to knot it in front, after the overhand knot, loop the laces around your waist, tie another overhand knot in front followed by a bow.
One problem I have sometimes had is the aglets (the plastic cover on the end of the laces) at the bottom of the corset shift and then dig into the small of my back. So as you're putting it on and tightening it the first time, make sure the knot at the bottom of the corset is centered and not pointing into your back.
I find the corset does several things. It gives you a feminine waistline. You will find when you stand with your arms straight there is a space like women have rather than touching the whole way down as with a man. It gives your back an S curve. It keeps you from slouching, particularly when sitting. And it forces you to raise your center of gravity (the stomach is pushed in and up). With the higher center of gravity (women have a higher center of gravity than men), walking like a woman becomes more natural.
I help my wife with hers, Alison has great advice! I plan to have a couple myself when the weight comes off, part of my incentive clothing I have bookmarked 🙂
I have a couple of bustiers that Stephanie has described and they are a challenge to tie at the back. However if you look carefully there are some that zip up and still have the lacing at the back.
There are also zip up corset without too.
I used to have a Vollers underbust, and I found that leaving a loop in the laces, 1 each side about halfway up, was a great help. I hooked them over a sturdy door handle and simply leaned into it - it left both hands free to fiddle around with taking the slack out. When laced, I'd just take the excess around my waist and tie it off at the front. One tip - get your shoes on first!

I had one custom made for me by Spenser's corsets. No longer in business. It was a front lace corset that I wore off and on for many years before it gave out. I loved the way it made me feel. It was like a warm loving hug and I felt so feminine in it. I'm thinking of getting a new one but have concerns about being able to get in and out of a back lace corset at my age but I think I'm going for it. The one problem I have is I can't have it delivered to the house so I'm limited to what I can find on Amazon and have delivered to a locker so my search continues for a high quality corset on Amazon.

Michelle

Another trick I have found is that because the stocking and straps are stretchable, I place the clip on top of the stocking in the back, then turn the pair to the side where it is easier to see and reach, then twist them back after it is clipped together.
Hi Donna. I have two. One is a boned under bust type and the other is a boned waist cincher. Both lace in the rear and have metal hooks in the front. You've gotten good advice on lacing by yourself. I use the doorknob method and it works pretty well. A new corset has to be broken in because it will stretch some the first couple of times wearing. Just tighten the laces a bit.
Once laced correctly I just have to put it on and take it off by hooking in front. I have it so tight to hold my male belly in that I lay down on my back, exhale as much as possible pulling in my tummy then can squeeze it together and hook. Its a bit of work but doable and I love the way it feels and gives me a nice figure and posture.
Good advice on putting on your heels before wearing... lol. I love the steampunk corsets and I think some of them have strap and buckles on the front for easy on and off. Hope to see some pics of your new corset.
