Hi....from a very wet England...
Ok I'm off work tomorrow...so I fancied a stroll this evening....big mistake...
On the BBC channels we have some lovely weather girls, the bonnie Scots lass Carol Kirkwood being one of them....now she is a bit of a cult figure ( ask Stephanie Plumb )...and she said at least three times today....grace, there is a yellow weather warning this evening my darling, for heavy heavy rain....stay indoors!!!
I said at least three times, thanks Carol, I will bear that in mind..
Talk about in one ear and out the other....I dressed and went out about town tonight at 7.30...took my brolly and wore a furry hooded parka....weather, do your worst!!
The trouble was, it bloody heard me...
To be honest, I had a thoroughly enjoyable hour or so, just wandering around, and enjoying being.....the girl...
Here's the punchline....from the last shop to my flat is less than 10 mins walk....
EXACTLY halfway...I drowned!!!!
I can't remember rain that hard, it was hurting my head through the hood of my parka....my brolly blew inside out as I tried to get it up...and then took off over a garden fence....and then the biggest boom of thunder sounded....I'm sure I squealed!!!...it made me bloody jump, honestly.
There is NO cover on that journey, even the blasted bus stop has no shelter, so no option, head down....and grin and bear it. It came down so hard it was hurting my eyes by now and I could barely see.... I got indoors, even my coat pockets had water in them...right down to my panties...wet bum crack!!!!!
I looked at myself in my full length mirror...I just burst out laughing....what a mess!!!!!
Do you know, I even had a false eyelash blasted off my face....now that is a first.....
As I write this, the rain is beating on the windows...and I can hear my poor coat dripping in the shower room...
So the moral of the story is simple....listen to Carol....and don't ignore her advice....sorry for the ramble but I thought it might make you smile...
Have you ever been caught out by the weather before????
Hurricane Grace xx
Oh! I can just picture it, and your poor brolli flying away in the storm, you must've been a right mess! Next time you'll listen to the weather girl.

B.....I loved that brolly...haha xx
Carol Kirkwood is very mumsy and a dresses so nicely too. Now Grace, next time listen to mum or look at the rainfall radar on the met net and see where, and how much, rain is where you are.
Your tale made me chuckle though.
Thanks Angela....I can tell you that at about 8.45 tonight....my radar was pounded...lol xxx
Well a least you listened to Carol Grace, I'm not sure Stephanie would be concentrating on her forecast. That aside I've been out in some heavy storms in my job, it's sure frightening to see a mighty oak tree ripped out the ground in front of you and a roof flap up and down then simply fly away.
Hope you had nice hot shower or bath when you got in and hot cup of coffee too.
Sorry about your brolly sweetie.

I find it hard to listen to Carol too - she's so gorgeous!!!
I'm always wondering where she got the dress she's wearing today, and how to pad myself to look like that - meee-ooww!!!
Love Laura
Haha...
you're funny!!!
I too got caught in a downpour tonight!Jumper, tights boots soaked. The jacket was leather, the skirt pretend leather, so they were OK.
It was nice getting home, and getting changed into something cozy and lighting a fire.
Wow....it's just not me and Stephanie Plumb....welcome aboard Laura xx
LOL Grace never trust the weather people if there any clouds in the sky darker in color better take a umbrella
Been few times while driving my motorcycle got caught in thunderstorm few times on the way back would stop under a overpass to stay dry for little. Of course was soaked So kept on going.
Bet mascara were running down your face.
Hugs

Hi Grace!
Yes! Got caught in many snow and ice storms in Ontario, but that can't quite compare to the rain me and my SO experience down in North Carolina in early April a couple of years ago. It was "Biblical"!
We were deep the Appalachian Mountains on our road bikes still 25 kms away from our B&B when the sky opened up. We saw no one until we were close to town. We rode very cautiously and at times the water level was getting close to our hubs!
The silver lining in that bloated cloud were all the good and kind folks who insisted we get in their cars. Southern Hospitality is real! We thanked them very much but continued on since we were only about 2 kms away from our B&B.
It's a miracle we got back unharmed. And that rain lasted for hours.
