This morning did a full basket of Dani's laundry.  Everything machine wash - delicates, then hung up to dry.  All over the house.  My home is decorated with pretty colors with hangars of bras, panties, nightgowns, dresses, cami's, even tights.  Pantyhose and the occasional panty gets hand-washed.  So much fun... 34 pair of panties today.  I never use the dryer for my things.  I'm here by myself, so no potential issues with a SO.

How about you?

Machine wash, you say? That would be much better than taking my clothes down to the river and slapping them against a rock. Plays havoc with 10 denier hosiery!

Being the clumsy fool that I am, I generally wear something once and manage to drop food, drink or creosote down myself. (No, I have no idea where the creosote comes from).

Thus, one day my wife had included a few of my dresses and undies in the washing and then hung them out on the clothes line. It felt brilliant seeing my stuff hanging there.

On evenings when I'm dressed, I always wash my undies before going to bed and hang them over a radiator. That always brings a smile to my face too 😊.

Thanks for posting this, Dani.

Hon, you got me beat!  I would love to be able to hang my dresses outdoors to dry.  CDH is a never-ending source of good times.

@danikiss22 well till now i wash them on my home work day, dry them over a heater and then hurry to put them away. But my gf knows i dress for some time now so your post made me think: why do i do that?! Im going to add 1 dress to the normal laundry and see how she responds, just for smiles and giggles

There are net washing bags that you can put delicates in when using a washing machine.

@harriette Yes I know they exist and maybe I should use them but my machine has the agitator and basket/drum locked together so the entire thing shifts in unison so I don't worry too much about straps getting ripped, etc.  I decided if I get something destroyed then that will be the time to get the bag.

@danikiss22 I do most of the laundry in the house so yes I do all my femme things. We have a drying rack in the laundry room and at first I was nervous about hanging my femme items in clear view as I didn’t want the kids to see them. Nowadays I just hang everything and often wonder if they wonder why there are many pairs of pantyhose hanging to dry when wife works mostly from home . All my bras and bralettes hanging , skirts, dresses and tops all larger than my wife’s size but yet not a word said about it.

@danikiss22

I usually end up having to organise all the laundry for both my wife and myself. Generally our lingerie is done separately because, although we mostly have separate brands, there is some overlap which would otherwise cause a bit of confusion. We are fortunate to have a very large airing cupboard in which we can stand a clothes airer. I have also fitted a rail high across the centre of the cupboard so we can put items on hangers up there to dry. There is a tumble dryer but it is only used for a few specific items.

Our main problem is with our current washing machine. But before I get onto that I must mention our very first washing machine in our tiny one-bedroom flat when we were first married. The kitchen was miniscule. The under-surface washing machine was immediately inside the kitchen door which opened into the kitchen. One day my wife left the machine running and went out to work, but when she returned at lunch time she found the machine had vibrated its way from under the surface and had parked itself solidly behind the door, preventing the door from being opened. There was no other way into the kitchen 🙁 .

We eventually solved that problem, but the machine had further tricks up its sleeve. A few weeks later the temperature sensor failed, so when it heated the water it got to boiling point and gradually boiled the water off; as the water level dropped the machine cunningly opened the inlet valve to keep the water level topped up ... and so it had an endless supply of water to boil off and turn the kitchen into a sauna (again while my wife was at work). This ruined many items in the kitchen and reduced clothes to a size that would fit a doll.

That machine had so many problems the manufacturer's service agent was being called out roughly every 2 weeks. Fortunately the machine was under a service contract, but in the end they decided to replace it with a brand new machine ... so they sent a 40 tonne artic truck down from the factory with just one solitary machine in the back for delivery to us 😀 .

Now, back to our current washing machine which just does not break down; it is very efficient, quiet and does a great job. BUT it has a malicious (perhaps malevolent) spirit. It is adept, even masterful, at tying bras and panties into the most intricate knots that take forever to untangle. Hooking the bras before washing just seemed to give the machine a greater challenge to which it rose with gusto and started to create the most devious topologically impossible tangles. However, I have recently discovered that, by placing each bra in a separate net washing bag, tangles were avoided and peace and joy was restored 😀 😀 😀 .

Happy washing days!

Hugs, Rebecca x

@fembecky Oh hon, that's quite a story!!  Glad you were able in the end to outsmart the manufacturer.

Hugs,

Just me here at my house 🙂  These days all my laundry is Fiona's (just the very occasional piece of drabwear) and it gets dried the same way that my drab stuff used to, on the airer in the open-plan doorway between my living & dining rooms, or hanging from that empty double doorframe.  On summer days, the airer sometimes goes out into the back garden.

>Living by myself I hang all Randi's smalls on the line. the other week some friends popped in, who do not know of my CDing, and saw my pink knickers blowing in the breeze and said something about their colour to which I said "yes I like pink" end of conversation, I think that they guessed. I find younger adults have no problem with CDing but the older are not quite so accepting.

Ours all go in the wash at the same time. We wear different brands of knickers and tights so no danger of mixing items up. As we get a lot of rain where we live we use our guest bathroom as a drying room. When it's not raining everything goes out on the line outside, except more saucy outfits.

I usually do my own washing, my wife does hers, but when my washing goes out on the line, it is often mixed in with my drab-wear so it's a mixture of male and female clothing, even though it's all mine. It would be funny to do this if I didn't have a wife, that would confuse the neighbours.

Our weather at the moment is dull, misty and generally shite, so the washing gets hung in the living room where we have a multi-fuel stove that is on 24 hours a day during the non-summer months. We do have a tumble dryer but we only use that in the summer, when it's raining.

One other point worth mentioning. We have an iron and and ironing board but for years it wasn't used. Now I am Becca, it gets used once a week at least; a girl has to look presentable (this is not to disrespect my wife, it's just that most of the clothes she wears don't need ironing).

Becca, my attitude to ironing was always, what's the point? It'll just get creased when I wear it. But, a couple of months ago I bought a nice lacy blouse online and when it arrived, it was well creased. Out came the ironing board (my wife was away childminding for a couple of days, otherwise she'd have done it) and I almost ruined it because I had no idea what setting to use. Suitably instructed by my wife, I now iron my own Allie clothes, well, the easy stuff anyway.

I'm a time-served engineer and hold an honours degree, but I'm confounded by the washing machine controls!

@alexina In the summer, I wear flouncy tops which don't need ironing but I also often wear brightly-coloured T shirts which always benefit from ironing if I don't want to look like I've slept in them. Me as Becca has an image to maintain, male me just puts a black T short on with a pair of shorts, not ironed.

We have a washing machine that has a myriad of settings and controls and we use only one of them—40C, 44 minutes, that's it.

I wonder who in this world has the time or inclination to use a machine for delicates, then cottons, then whites, then coloureds? What sort of person has anything so unutterably filthy that it requires washing for two and half hours on 90C—if I had anything that bad, I'd throw it away and buy another one.

If I could buy one, I'd have a washing machine that washed only at 40C and took 44 minutes and dispensed with all that other crud. Of course, manufacturers wouldn't make much money that way.

I kind of miss the old twin tub machines sometimes.

A twin tub! That was our first machine and lasted for years. The first flat we lived in had wooden floors throughout and I had to screw a couple of blocks of wood to hold the feet in place to stop the thing wandering about the kitchen!

In the same "things were built better then" vein, we also bought a Parkinson Cowan gas cooker with an eye level grill. It cost £90 in 1976 and was still working well when we replaced it with a range cooker in 2013! We still miss that grill.

@alexina I still have a standalone spin dryer. Runs up to 2800 rpm and will practically dry some clothes in five minutes. There are only a couple of manufacturers of these now--White Knight and one other I can't remember the name of--and they are quite expensive at over £100 a pop, but they are extemely effective and will take half an hour off tumble-dryer time. You'd be surprised at how much washing they can hold too.

Hon, you must be farther along with the wardrobe than am I.  So far haven't dug out the iron.  Since I don't have that much, as I buy clothes maybe I can remember to stay away from linen fabrics.  Other girls who have a clothesline enjoy putting things outdoors and I wish I had that opportunity.  I would think it is thrilling to see one's things billowing prettily in the breeze.

Thank you Jenn for you kind words.  And today I found out absolutely everyone I might have Thanksgiving with has other plans.  For a few hours I felt sorry for myself and just now thought this is the time I can do whatever I want and go wherever I choose for that day.  Maybe I'll take the weekend, go somewhere and get dressed up.

hugs

I have to be so careful when I wash my Becky things.

My wife doesn't know i dress, so it's always a conundrum when she's away as to whether to wear or wash.

All of our clothes are mixed on wash day.  I do iron and use a press cloth on a regular basis.  It makes your outfits look  perfect.  I also fit, hem and alter all my clothes for a more finished fit.  Marg

As often mentioned here on this great site, I'm in a loving, but firmly DADT relationship. So my Caty "Smalls" only get washed when my beloved is not home. Dont have enough most times, for machine washing and the cycle would probably  not be finished before "the Boss" got back.

As for drying... I put old towels in the bottom of my wardrobe and leave my "luvly lingerie" on hangers to dry overnight.

The only things I iron are my "Summer Silkies, mostly camis and french knickers.I have a storage uni with light and power so, the ironing is completed in that space.

I sleep femme every night and a very favorite femme thing to do in the mornings when it's all washed and ironed, is to sit on my own bed in my own room up the other end of the house and carefully fold it all into my lingerie and bra drawers

Happy dressing and laundering

@ryanpaul Yes, me too.  Only thing I might add, with my folding, is 'carefully and lovingly".  That top dresser drawer looks and feels like it came right out of Victoria's Secret.

Until recently I would wash Suzanne's things when my wife was out of the house or very early in the morning while she was still asleep. When I first started dressing she made it very clear that Suzanne's things could not be laundered with regular house laundry. Last month she surprised me by telling me to bring something for Suzanne to wear when we went away for a couple days. I brought a pair of pajamas and panties and wore them in the room, at bedtime she told me to leave them on which was another surprise. It was nice being able to go to bed dressed (Im hoping it can be repeated at some point). During the night there was a fire alarm so we had to get up, get dressed and leave the room. Needless to say the pajamas came off but the panties stayed on. When we got back to the room I got undressed to go back to bed. I didn't bother to put the pajamas back on but did get back in bed in the panties without anything being said. When we got home from the trip I was separating laundry and she said I could put everything in the wash. I reminded her that she said Suzanne's things got washed separately and she said it was okay to wash everything together. Since then that is what I do - bras, panties, etc. - it is so nice not having to do separate loads of laundry.

I do use a net bag for my panties in the washer but take them out for in the dryer, bras get hooked and put in the washer as is and then get hung to dry. I don't iron anything as I'm not too concerned as I only dress at home. Stockings, pantyhose and knee highs get hand washed and hung up.

XOXO
Suzanne

Being able to launder my clothes is one of the luxury benefits of having come out to my Better Half 🙂

Previously in addition to handwashing undies and tights, I would have to sneak the odd item into the wash (being out of work I would do the laundry when she was at work) and then secretly dry it in my 'studio', as best I could. I suppose it's a good thing that I didn't get too many opportunities to dress back then, as it kept my laundry to the minimum.

It's lovely though to be able to just put all our clothes in the washer and have them hanging out to dry together. It's kind of normalising, but it still makes me feel good when I see all our clothes on the airer, reminding me just how lucky I am to be able to dress in the way that I want to. 🙂

Washing isn't the problem for me. I put both my male and female stuff into the same load. Bras, tights, pantyhose and panty girdles all go into the net bag, and everything is washed on cold anyway.

I will sort out the net bag and any skirts, tops, or dresses that require hanging. I have two dryer racks in an unused upstairs room which is sufficient. Other clothing (both male and female) go into the dryer.

My issue is in the sorting before putting away. Depending on the season, and worse at the in-between times when temperatures can vary wildly, I can have many different piles. For example: I may have short sleeve (androgynous but used for male mode)  tee shirts, exercise tee shirts, dress shirts, androgynous short sleeve tee shirts that get hung (not folded), women's tee shirts that get folded, women's tee shirts that get hung, androgynous long sleeve shirts that get hung, androgynous long sleeve shirts that get folded, and tank tops. Then I still need a pile for skirts, jeans, pants, and dresses. Undies usually go in a single pile, but I have one pair of male underwear I wear for waxing every 5 weeks or so, and sometimes I have some gender-bending thongs or g-strings that get put separate. When dry, pantyhose goes separate from tights (they go in separate drawers).

While not all categories get used each week, I'm often have quite a few categories.

@alison-anderson I would like to get women's jeans or slacks I just can't bring myself to spend the money since I have collected over the years about 12-15 drab ones all in very good condition yet.  At least with mens shirts, they will wear out, and as they do I only buy tops now for Dani.

@danikiss22 Over the last few years I have replaced my men's jeans with women's. I started out with a couple. Then last year I lost significant weight from illness and replaced the men's jeans completely, the men's jeans falling off if I didn't put on a tight belt. (Some of my belts I had to put in 4-6 more holes just to make them usuable.) I now wear only women's jeans in male mode.
