Hi ladies,

I like to stretch out on the couch sometimes and I also hate taking off my wig when I get into bed. I don’t want to sleep in it but while I’m laying there reading etc. I want to be as femme as possible. Am I just going to get more tangles? Will I wear out the wig faster? Will more frequent conditioning help?

Talking about a synthetic wig at the moment but interested to hear about real hair wigs too, though I guess they vary more?

Thanks for your input girls 🥰😘. Wigs are new to me and I could use your expertise here.

Good question. When I fully transform into Wendy, I take naps and such and I also don't want to take off my wig, as I want to remain fully femme.

I have all synthetic wigs, and I've really not notice any more tangles than usual.  That being said, most of my wigs are shoulder length or shorter, so it doesn't tangle as badly vs. long wigs.

From what I've read, regardless of what wigs you buy, eventually it will wear out.  In the meantime, I've bought shampoo/conditioner specifically made for wigs, and that is supposed to help extend the life of the wig (I've found it also helps detanble it too).

I don't wear my wigs everyday though, so that should also help extend its life span.

Thanks Wendy,

that sounds positive and about what I expected. I have some cleanser and conditioner on the way. It’s a bit sad to think this wig will wear out one day, I really love it but I guess it’s a chance to try a new style. I know some girls have several which sounds like fun too, 🥰

I've had to throw out one wig, it was so tangled up and the hairs were falling out by the clumps.  I have another one that is really well worn, as the hairs are falling out but not by the clumps.

Great topic ladies. I wanted to know could human hair conditioner work on synthetic wigs? How is wig conditioner different than hair conditioner? How often would a girl need to use the conditioner? Thanks for any advice from my girlfriends

am also interested in that answer. I'd guess the wig conditioner is primarily focused on synthetic materials and so could include different things but I'm guessing completely.

Well come to think of it, my Paula Young wig came with care instructions. Maybe I should read them? 😆

This is from what I've gathered from reading wig care on various websites.

Normal shampoo/conditioner for hair is way too strong for wigs.  It can actually deteriorate wigs much faster.  wig shampoo/conditioner is specially formulated for wigs so it will help it last longer.

You don't need much wig shampoo/conditioner either.  I bought Estetica wig shampoo/conditioner and it says to use about 2 drops in a sink of cool water.   I usually just use the sink in our bathroom as it is just the right size.  I don't fill the sink full, just enough so it covers the wig.

Thanks Wendy,

that's very handy information. I have some wig cleanser and conditioner on the way, I'll report back if the guidance differs greatly.

My understanding on this is 'it depends'. On how the wig is constructed and I guess the existing shape, some wigs aren't very flexible in terms of what you can do with them.
