These days, I am lucky to get a fare share of Denise time, with SO gone to help our daughter and her new born girl, first grand child and neighbours away on both sides, I am enjoying with our two dogs being Denise close to full time. My wife is very supportive and lets me dress in the house and go out in public, as long as it is not local. I am blessed with the freedom I have and excellent relationship, which I do no want to compromise. In her presence, I keep a more modest dress code and avoid exposing my shaved legs with close company. We have been living in the same small rural community for 35 years plus.

This opportunity has boosted my self confidence level. First, I have been out in public on our street wearing women shorts and t shirt and under dressed with panties and bralette and had conversations with neighbours with no second look. Just being able to stay dressed while in the backyard and not caring what the world thinks or wearing a short mini skirt or shorts for more than one hour, this is what I call living the dream. Coming from a small rural prominently catholic where everyone watched others, especially my parents and had a word to say about it, my subconscious always told me, what will the others think. That has held me back in my progress to explore my feminine side. During the past week, I have fully embraced Denise. The only hold back is that managing the dogs requires a lot of time and energy with no time left to venture in public.

As we have read often on CDH, we all have the desire but building self-confidence is a major stumbling block. It was true for me and I am sure I will be able to open more to my wife upon her return. I hope this inspires others to follow their journey and looking forward to your replies on how to improve.

@isabella22 I love stories like this! They do encourage others, including me, to cut some tethers which can hold us back.

@harriette CDH has helped me a lot to reach where I am, my way of giving back and inspire others.

@isabella22 Denise, I'm so pleased to read this.  You've always been so supportive towards me as I've moved toward full-time Fiona, it's much appreciated, and you deserve a good slice of quality Denise time yourself.  To answer your implied question, basically  I found that experience builds confidence, which builds greater experience, and so on.  It really is a virtuous circle once you can get on it.  In the end, other people have to own their own reaction to you.  Good luck sweetie and do tell us more about what you've been getting up to!

Hugs,
Fiona xxx

@isabella22

Denise, you are challenged by your desire to get more Denise time and balancing that with your family and community standards. I would say that you are committed to your wife and her needs and sensibilities. I hope you can find the balance that works for all.

I too live in a small town (1300) mostly Lutheran but I converted to Catholic myself and go to a rural Catholic Church. I have been presenting as Cassie full time both in my town and at Church for almost a year now. So far I have only found acceptance or tolerance 100%. Even at my job where is the only place I present as 'him' everyone knows, I even went to my union meeting last night as Cassie. Now I do work in larger college town 20 minutes away. But still no problems for me.

Like I said I hope you find your balance.

@loneleycd thank you Cassie, we each have different objectives which makes us all unique. Hearing from you and your accomplishents, gives us inspiration to go further. I enjoy the current balance, just wishing to have more opportunities to go out in public.

Hi Denise,

What a lovely opportunity to build confidence! I know that feeling of "What will the neighbors think?!" from being brought up Catholic myself, and now living in a rural conservative area. I am a bit envious of your being able to go out under dressed in women's shorts, and t shirt! I would not try that in my neighborhood.

It sounds like you are making great use of this time. Enjoy!!

@secretpassions thank you Lara, I chose shorts that were just above knees, not the 3 inches inseam. And for the top, it had sleeves, but short so it was not in my pants. I agree with you on what will the neighbours think, like me I didn’t even knew the word crossdresser 25 years ago and only discovered my interest for women clothing in my mid 50’s to then wanting to further explore my feminime side. Little steps eventually lead to bigger ones, good luck Lara.

For some like you it is small steps in getting out in the world more but with constraints that are set by ourselves because of the life we live and what we believe how those in society around us will react if seen.

At least you do have a supportive spouse who allows you to dress and go out albeit with her constraints which is for her as she would have to deal with any negativity too should it come.

However it is a story of hope for others and as many find out acceptance is out there and from very unlikely sources too.

Thankyou for sharing.

Denise -

How wonderful that you are able to have the time you do and that you are getting out and about.

I only dress at home although I have gone out underdressed in panties a number of times. I've also gone out wearing female shorts that my wife gave me. Before I did I asked her and she said it was okay (we have an "only in the house" policy but she will adapt that at times). They were cargo shorts of mid thigh length, the only difference was the zipper opening was on the other side and the pockets were smaller. The pockets were a bit of an issue putting my things in them but I worked it out. Since then I have gotten a sling bag that will solve that problem. I've been noticing more men carrying some type of waist bag or sling bag and I'm getting to the point that I don't care. I've also gone out wearing a pair of ankle boots, they are black and resemble a pair of cowboy boots. When I bought them with the help of my wife she said they were something I could wear whenever I want. so I do.

It is nice being able to "push the envelope" a bit from time to time.

Continue to enjoy your time.

XOXO
Suzanne

@cdsue thank you Suzanne, good for you to venture out and getting your wife’s approval, I have asked my wife to guide me with certain purchases and I find that it builds relationship and confidence for both of. I find that challenging myself to push a little further brings back the adrenaline for a while. Good luck in your adventures and sharing them with us.

@isabella22 thanks - there are times we have fun with it - it can be challenging to push a bit further but worth it in the end.

XOXO
