Me, My Bikini, and the Beach.....

For the week my sleep schedule has been totally unpredictable. I am between jobs again, which is annoying on the financial front, but a blessing on the Autumn front. Last week I did get to dress at home while my wife was at work. There is a photo in my private gallery if anyone is interested. Anyways....

This morning I woke up at the ungodly time of 3:30 am. It was coming off of a dream but not a nightmare or a bad dream. Kinda a crappy work dream that made no sense. I was wide awake and no chance of sleeping. I went down stairs wondering how I would fill my day after my wife leaves for work.....

The short time I spent with her before she left was pleasant and before I knew it she was gone. I decided it was time I showed just a little bit of bravery.

I went up stairs and changed into my new bikini. I love it. It's quite nice. Dark blue, sky blue, and white in an irregular pattern but is IMHO an eye catcher.

Not being ready to reveal this bikini to the entire world, I put on dark grey mens cargo shorts, and a black t-shirt with a funny saying on it. I got in my car and drove to the local bagel shop. I went in and ordered a bagel with cream cheese and picked up a bottle of chocolate milk. There were two ladies working in the shop and a total of 3 male customers who had no reason what so ever to notice me in any way.

I left the shop with the intention of eating my bagel on the beach. I drove about 15 minutes to the beach I had selected for it's seclusion. Now that it is past labor day in the US it is no longer tourist season here on Long Island and schools are back in session. As I pulled off the main drag into the entrance I was perturbed to find the gates to the road to the beach chained and locked and a sign saying "closed due to erosion".

For half a second I considered just going home. I decided instead that I should try another township beach that is know to be more public, but actually harder to get to. Even though both beaches are in the same township, it was close to 40 minutes before I drove my car onto the access road for the other beach.

I parked my car at the end of the lot and there was only one other car there. I got out of my car and grabbed my beach bag that held my towel, two books, my recently purchased breakfast, and I grabbed my camping chair from the cargo area. As I started walking towards the beach, the woman who owned the other car came back to her car and started making her preparations to leave.

I walked the few hundred yards/meters to the water. I selected a spot below the highest part of the beach but not too close to the water. Tide had gone out and there was 20 feet or so of wet sand that I stayed out of. From my spot, when I stood up I could see the parking area. Even seated I knew I would notice anyone walking towards me from a long ways off.

I set up my camping chair, removed my shorts and my t-shirt and positioned my self to face the sun which was getting much higher in the sky but still very east. I sat in my camping chair, enjoying the not very hot sunshine on my skin. I didn't expect the beach to be that deserted. I had figured I would have to walk east or west a bit away from at least a few people, but it was just me and all the seagulls.

The sun and solitude was very nice. Slight breeze blowing my now long hair around was lovely. I considered eating my bagel but the seagulls seemed to be waiting for me to show them some food...... After about 30 minutes of peace and solitude I decided to leave but only because some flys had found me and decided I was delicious. I got up, packed up my chair and belongings, put my shorts and t-shirt back on and trekked back to the car.

It was lovely.
