Hi all,

My life seems to work best by serendipity - " the faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for".

It's sort of been on my mind to move up the bra alphabet for a while now. A, B, C ... and it's stayed just a thought. No big deal. Been there, thought that. I do like my C cups.

But somehow I found myself looking online at a bra seller I've bought from before, and somehow  I playfully added a D cup size to my basket. And somehow I noticed the checkout price was ridiculously less than half the price advertised. Well ... what would you have done ?

So it arrived yesterday. Hello Emma, welcome to the letter D.

It feels lovely, I slept in it all last night. My C forms , bless them, even with extra padding are obviously not up to the job. It's time to upgrade. All thanks to serendipity. Sometimes you arrive at a place you didn't know you wanted to visit.

Emma xxx

@emmat

At this rate, by the time we see you in Leeds in August you'll have got to at least an F cup.

More coincidence than serendipitous but today I received a pair of 1kg "D" forms, tear drop shape, that I ordered yesterday. Now I'll have to buy a new bra as they don't fit right in the ones I've got.

Funnily enough, although they feel heavy in the box, I don't notice much difference when they're in place. My wife did ask, though, "Why are you suddenly waking with a stoop?"

@alexina careful now, you will be needing the osteopath if you carry on like that. Still, you know what to expect now....

@emmat I guess it all down to what's proportional (in my opinion anyway) Last year I bought what was supposedly an E breastplate but it looks like an F at the very least to me. I must admit they are fun but I do feel more like Kenny Everett's Cupid Stunt when I have them on. In the best possible taste of course. 😊

@emmat it’s funny Emma, when we were in school, we always wanted those A’s, B’s and C’s, but D’s we’re not understood and so very close to an F.  But here we are now, wishing and hoping for D’s.  How ironic.  But, I’d be careful working your way to an F, because I’m afraid it’s still means Failure.

@jennconn with my growing curves I think I pull of DD’s very well.22/24 and  now a 46 band size. Its the only part I need padding and use the Feminique silicone breasts.

With my body size, I could probably carry Cs off with no real proportional issues. The problem is the amount of attention that they would grab.

Yesterday, I walked around with an empty B cup under a loose pullover sweater while trying to learn what I can get away with or not. At one point, I walked through a small crowd waiting at a bus stop and a height-challenged older woman had an eye-level view of the small bumps on my chest. She wouldn't take her eyes off of them. At least not too many others noticed during the trip.

There is no way to hide C's, even under a winter coat, so I will enjoy yours vicariously.

@emmat If you ever find a way, there will be many CDs who will be interested in how.

As a CD who practices illusion and obfuscation, I haven't found a way to do that yet.

@harriette Proportionality is also on my mind when buying bras (although I only have the crudest forms of padding at the moment). I'm six feet tall with a fifty band size, so I thought that DDs would look proportional. And it has nothing to do with a desire to appear voluptuous or busty. Really! Honest!

I think so many of our lives are serendipitous. In dressing things happened which weren't planned or sought but were things that made my life of dressing so much better.

An example was telling a female friend about me and as a consequence she later pointed me in the direction of a wig stylist which I never knew existed and was a revelation to me. It changed my look and after that. Only a small thing but an impact, there are many more.

We all move up the scale...

I suspect needing to buy new D forms cost significantly more then the discount on the bra. Maybe the bra company is in cahoots with the form company🤔🤭😘

Hi Emma,

A couple of months ago I was searching on line for average bra size in the US.  The retail association cited from purchases it was a D cup.  Of course you’re far from average.

@aliceunderwire I asked Gemini about this, too.

"The average bra size in the United States is generally considered to be 34DD. However, some sources suggest that the average has shifted slightly in recent years, with some indicating a 40C as the average size."

An increase in band size that large seems, uh, unreasonable and more than slight. There was no citation for either number.
