I'm not a particularly "big" bloke - 5 foot 10 inches 12 stone 7 pounds (175 pounds for the americans) but I'm having a bit of trouble trying for a total makeover.
Feet! not huge - size 10 - 11 in american, but the width... HHH wide. The two transformation makeover sites i've contacted in the UK have both said "bring your own (I have 3 pairs of heels that i can squeeze into) or we'll put you into size 11 or 12.
Head! It's the biggest problem. Standard wig cap is 58-59 cm. My head requires a 62cm wig cap - possibly a63 cm due to the total volume of my hair that would be required to be hidden under it..
One makeover site says that they have nothing that would fit me. The second says that they have one wig that would fit but it's a very short "flyaway" wig.
I'm 65 but my own hair is below my shoulder blades and is very thick with no receding so i could go with them trying to style my hair but the whole premise of a transformation is that you come away looking feminine & glamourous. I don't consider my own hair to be either.
With the right styling, your hair may just be glamorous. You might try going to a hairstylist separately and see what they can do. You might also just purchase your wig. A good wig shoo can likely find one in your size.
Ayla, I too have long hair and I'm looking forward to my makeover to see how it will be styled. I myself would much rather have my own hair so I could flaunt it and at 68 I'm glad to say I still have it.
Hi Ayla, I usually wear my own long hair everyday in a ponytail but do wear a wig for any glamorous event. I can wear my own hair to these events but really need to do a lot of work to make it look good. I've found that if I plan ahead of time my beautician can give me a great up-do that looks wonderful but for the most part I just don't have the time. So, it's really back to the wig. I've cut the elastic on some wigs that I thought were too tight and then sewn in wig combs to hold them on. I have an average head but do know that wigs are like hats and not really always same sized. Paula Young does have larger head sized wigs so you might try that company also, but I don't know about UK shipping. Also, try Posh for a used large size wig to learn on. I don't wear a hair net but just cross my long hair over my head and put the wig on. It helps me to be blonde and that I only buy blonde wigs. I hope this helps, Marg
